Repair RAM retention clip

I had a RAM retention lock break.

Does anyone know how to fix this? Or does the whole RAM connector need to be replaced?

The closest thing I was able to find was on amazon, but it's the WHOLE dimm connector. I just need the white retention tabs.

You may not need the retention tab as it is more a ejection tab than a retention tab (especially since it is only one sided) removing an inserted DIMM may require you to remove all the DIMMs around it so you can grab the DIMM evenly and pull it out (see-sawing or removing the chip by hand from one end could damage the socket).

Judging from how much force is required to seat a DIMM the socket itself provides most of the holding force. Don't use a loose seated DIMM (it should be pretty stuck in the socket if properly installed with or without the tab)

However don't attempt to use this computer in a high vibration environment or one where you move or ship it around as sudden drops could pop the DIMM out or worse remove it slightly. (although one hard enough to that would probably cause a lot of damage anyways).

(There is a slight risk that you do not fully insert a DIMM as the retention tab provides a visual feedback of when you fully insert the DIMM and failure to properly insert the DIMM could result in a short which could damage the motherboard and memory)

Thanks for your input. The white piece seems replaceable but I can't seem to find it anywhere or I might be searching for it by using the wrong name.
 
If your DIMM sockets are like those red ones, I'd just leave off the clip because the red plastic sticks up on the sides and keeps the DIMM from wobbling.
 
you can repair it if you can find an identical retention clip, they a friction fit.
