Nexus 6 speculation

Hope they go back to AMOLED. Would love something like an oversized Moto X, one handed use be damned.

I'm over this whole one handed use for everything. I want me some screen size damnit!

100% agree. All these people screaming about phones being to big should go back to using a Nokia 3310.

I'm starting to agree too. My HTC One M8 is great, but I'd be happy with even a bigger screen.

These are not just phones only anymore, or texting devices only. They are mini computers you carry around. And the bigger phones like the Note 3, or maybe a 5.9" Nexus X, means you don't also need to carry around a Tablet anymore.

What about the people who don't want a damn tablet sized phone in their pants or in an armband out running. I mean, if it comes out that size, sure I'll buy it, but I would have preferred a smaller screen..

To that I would just say that there are phones out there they are smaller and will be just as good as these phones. That is the nice thing about android, they come in all shapes and sizes.

Too many conflicting reports on the Nexus-Six.

If it's releases is Halloween time, we usually don't get solid leaks until like 2 to 3 weeks beforehand. So looks like we gotta wait too early October before we can credible rumors.

I still think the Nexus 6 will be a 5.2" device, and there may be a 5.9" Nexus Phablet possibly.

Google could launch two Nexus smartphones this year
http://www.phonearena.com/news/Google-could-launch-two-Nexus-smartphones-this-year_id59889

As we learned, there is a 5.9-inch Moto S and a 5.2-inch model in testing and which one we see released will depend on the public reaction to the Moto X+1. According to a source close to the supply chain, Google may be cleaning up the unused devices. The main Nexus X is already set to be 5.9-inches, as we've stated before. But, word has it that if Motorola releases the 5.9-inch Moto S, Google may repurpose the 5.2-inch Moto S units as a second Nexus device.

This would explain why we have been seeing leaks here and there for a 5.2-inch Nexus, but far more leaks regarding a 5.9-inch Nexus X. So, come Halloween, we may suddenly see two Nexus smartphones and the new Nexus 8.9 tablet released into the Google Play Store. No doubt, we'll get more info as we get closer to that time, but this is definitely something to keep an eye on.

Its still fun to speculate and discuss it

Now that is just stupid statement. You can do the same things with phone that has smaller screen except that you can use it with one hand and carry it with you easier. For me phone that is wider than 6,5cm is not optimal to use. Bigger is not better and in this case the extra size does not make any difference to me. It is too large to use comfortably yet too small to make any difference.

Not really stupid just my opinion. Also, you are one of those people my comment applies to. All you have to do is say, "Oh shit! I don't think I would be comfortable using this one handed. I guess I will get this other (INSERT ANDROID/APPLE DEVICE HERE) which has the same internal specs but a smaller screen. This seems way easier to use on the go!"

IMO you kind of proved my point. Didn't come here to argue about which size is way better compared to the other. Large phones (such as the Note3, and Mega) are clearly only for a niche part of the market that demands this huge phone. Hence why half the people I know carrying an SG4/SG5, an M7/M8, or a LG G2, didnt want a Note3 because of the size.

Next Nexus phone will be made by Motorola, likely named Nexus X
http://mobilesyrup.com/2014/08/25/next-nexus-phone-will-be-made-by-motorola-likely-named-nexus-x/

The device will be Motorola-made and that Google is planning a “secret launch” for the device around Halloween. The Nexus X name isn’t set in stone, but it’s what the phone is being referred to as internally and will “likely” be the final product name. The device is said to feature a 5.9-inch screen, which we’d heard before, but Phone Arena’s sources say we can also expect a 2560 x 1440 resolution, as well as a Snapdragon 805 chipset with a 2.7 GHz CPU, a 13MP camera in the back and a 2.1MP camera in the front.

So your point is what? I should switch back to 3310? Please... I want good camera, powerful soc and sharp screen but in a package that is still easy to use and handle.

There are too many massive phones out there. There aren't that many compact high end phones. Sony is pretty much the only manufacturer who understands that it makes sense to make basically the same phone but in easier to handle size. It would make sense if Nexus series would have more size options and not just the rumoured humongous and large.

I honestly cannot tell if you are just being a troll now.

But for the record, the 3310 comment was sarcasm. I am sorry that you have child sized hands that can't use anything bigger than a Sony handset.

Nexus X (aka Nexus 6) rumor round-up: features, specs, price and release date

Also I love how Samsung, and LG come out with these phones that are similar and they are 600-800 bucks. I applaud the idea that this phone will be decently priced. I remember when I was buying my Nexus4 and when the sales guy told me 400 i was floored because I was looking at other handsets that were at least 200 dollars more.

I'm still using a Sensation XE, it's 768mb of ram is often painful. :(

I really hope they don't go bigger than 5.5" (nearer to 5" the better). 5.9" is getter close to the size of the Nexus7 (which is a great device), even without a bezel it's going to be too bulky for a phone. To me phablets are jack-of-all-trades, master of none.

I don't have big hands, I think the Moto X is the largest I can take for 100% screen coverage one-handed with my pinky below the bezel for balance. But fact of the matter is even when testing with 5.5" phones I can get something like 80% coverage, missing just the top right hand corner (using with left hand) and with the amount of customization available there's very little that I miss over there. Notification toggles and refresh button on browsers are the only semi-common buttons in the missed area, plus I can still easily pull down the primary notification shade on Note 3, so to me a big phone can still be one handed in typical usage.

Gaming in landscape with the Moto X was kind of disappointing because of how much visual space you lose out on from having thumbs covering the screen, and phablets typically have battery size increases that more than make up for the power consumption increase of their displays.

Hopefully the 32GB is the baseline., and the days of the 16GB phone are done with.

while i agree, 32gb should be the norm, i have a 16gb galaxy s3 that has taken up maybe 10gb? that's including a ton of music mp3 and some downloaded files...not saying i'm buying a 16gb phone again, just saying 16gb will suffice for a lot of users out there...my wife for example has a 32gb iphone 5s, it has 25gb free space lol...thats with her using itunes for music downloads and videos...ugh..shoulda gotten the 16gb version, woulda saved me money!

I have tons of emulators and ROMs on my Nexus 5 16GB. I really wish I had gotten the 32GB now ><

I'm really hoping it is a 5.2" 1440p device and not the 5.9", that size is just ridiculous and way too large. It won't fit in the phone cubby's I have to leave my phone in at work. I always laugh at the Galaxy Note that is balanced precariously on top because it doesn't fit into the slot.

Also I hope that the earlier rumors about a release on Verizon are true. I'm starting to hurt for a replacement to my Galaxy Nexus, and a $499 Nexus X would really fit the bill so I can keep my unlimited plan without spending 650-700.

Just noticed GSMarena has updated the specs for the Nexus6, they look pretty plausable.

and yes 5.2"

Those specs are pretty much exactly what I would want in my next phone. Only thing missing would be better video specs and high capacity battery. I feel flagships these days need 1080p60 video, 4k video, and slow motion 720p240 video. Also as close to 3000mAh battery as possible would be awesome.

After reading the poor battery life results on the new Moto X ( 2014) I am really worried the Nexus 6 will be a stripped down cheaper version of it, to keep it's costs in that $350 range.

I would be fine with the Moto X being the basis of the new Nexus 6, only change, please Motorola drop in your MAXX battery tech, like they did last year with the Droid Ultra MAXX with a 3,500mAh battery, and still kept the phone pretty slim and thin.

But if the Nexus 6, is exactly the new Moto X with that 2,300mAh I will pass.

Those are rumored specs. I'd be surprised if it didn't do 4k video with that sensor.

Shit, the Nexus might be coming back to Verizon? Now I'm interested.

I wouldn't mind a phablet option, even if it's a GPE style device. My wife in particular likes stock android but has been wanting a phablet size option - ideally I'd like to avoid getting the touchwiz covered Note 4 if I can.

I'm rather glad to see 3gb of RAM for a change. Admittedly, I'd rather see 4gb, but considering how 2gb has been the max amount for flagship devices for the last few years, its nice to see an increase. Android 5.x "L" should be coming along nicely, I hope. I'm still running on my Nexus 4, and I've been looking for an upgrade. This "nexus 6" seems like a good idea indeed. I wonder if there will be a new Nexus tablet arriving soon, as well? A Nexus 7 mk3 or some such?

That said, I'm still a bit hesitant simply because I hear that "Nexus" devices will be vanishing after this year, to be replaced by "Silver Edition" devices next year. "Silver" is supposed to take the place of "Nexus" and "Google Play Edition" last I heard, with high end hardware, "pure/development Android" etc... so I have to wonder if it wouldn't be better to hold out instead. Then again, there were also rumors that "Silver" is basically replacing Nexus as a "gimme" to hardware manufacturers, who are sick of Nexus devices offering the same tech as their flagships but at a much lower price, so... that may not be good. Ah well, we shall see...

well 2014 the year of underachievement for everyone releasing devices LOL

I might just buy the new Moto X for its Moto features over the Nexus X...Phones are getting faster and faster, but features is what I'm looking for and I don't mean samsung bloatware.

Any thoughts?

Whose the supposed mfg of 6? Whatever flagship they have now is what the hardware in the nexus 6 is going to be

All rumors have been saying Motorola and it will be a Phablet 5.9" screen, named the Nexus X.

nexus is cheap because they cut corner somewhere
