PS4, 10 million sold

While the PS4 is a good console the almost Wii level run away success of it baffles me. If Sony can translate that into a high attach rate over the lifespan on the console it should help them stay afloat a little easier.

I love mine even though the game library isn't there. It'll get better. Meanwhile it's the blu ray player I didn't have, it's the default amazon prime viewer (over my HTPC surprisingly), it has cool little indie games I can remote play on my vita while my wife uses the TV, and my Xbox 360 IMO is still just fine - while most if not all Xbox one exclusives will eventually find their way to the pc.

I think there are enough reasons to sell a good number if ps4s even if it has been an underwhelming next gen console era.

And yet i havent found a reason to buy one. And i wish i had one.

In comparison to what exactly? The PC?

I own one but all things considered the PC master race would only own one if lack of games isolation and paying for full price games is up your ally.
I own one game so far Killzone it sucks I played it still think it sucks it's not 1080P even. The best thing about the PS4 is the Dualshock controller which you can play
PC game with =)

So you're basing the entire console on one game that was bad for even hardcore Killzone fans?

Yeah I like Killzone, hell I think Killzone 2 is the best console FPS of the last generation, but Shadowfall was just... bad. I think 5/10 is about the right score for it.

You guys need to remember that not everyone owns a gaming-grade PC. Most people with PS4s are playing multiplatformers which we take for granted on PC.

While you all stare at you PS4's waiting for something magical to happen, I trade my 360 and Xbone in for a Wii U Mario Kart edition. The last week we have had friends and different family over racing on my 73" screen and my god the laughs and fun we are having is a blast. Its not wearing off either. Daughter and I are taking nephews on this weekend again, they went and bought their own controllers lol. We haven't even played Super Mario Bros. U yet. Can't imagine the fun we will have with that Hyrule game and new Smash Brothers. For family entertainment, after having both M$ products this WIi U is getting more work than either of the other systems. FUN GUYS/GALS. I guess it comes down to if you have a network of friends and family to play the Wii U with. Because this thing is blast so far. :)

What if I stare at my ps4, Xbone, and Wii U? AND I can play on all 3? I'm not tied down to any one console. And I got a good gaming PC as well.

Last of Us Remastered says hi with 200+ GOTY awards and awesome MP.

I was done with Mario Kart after Double Dash. SMG1/2 were great but don't care for 2D Mario games anymore. Smash Bros. is meh to me. Rather play Street Fighter 4.

Ah yes the Last of Us that came out in 2013....

He's right. This right here is what "real" consoles are good for. And the one thing PC doesn't really have (oh that and Jrpgs). I will eventually have a ps4 but there just isn't any real reason to right now..I'd be more inclined to buy a ps3 at this point.

I think the consoles needs more titles that are at least exclusive to ps4/xb1 to really take off. Even in Gamecon this year, we're still hearing many titles being released on x360/ps3 so the titles that will sell the newer consoles will have to be those exclusive to them where you can't get on last gen platform.

Killzone and Infamous are pretty decent, so that may explain Sony's lead. This is just me but I've yet to see anything on xb1 that makes me want to get the console just for that game, and perhaps many feels the same hence it's sales number. It should improve once the likes of Halo comes out.

I was kind of "meh" when it comes to Shadow Fall. It wasn't bad but I liked KZ2 A LOT more. It felt like they kind of abandoned some of the stuff I really liked about 2 and made it feel too much like "just another shooter". Console shooters have to be something that really catches my attention for me to like them. Second Son however was great. Still neither of those are really huge killer system selling titles. I think the PS4 is coasting a lot on hype. A lot of people bought one last year (myself included) and as it gets more good press in comparison to the other two it drives sales up. The "no games" perception interestingly does not seem all that prevalent with the PS4, even though both it and the XB1 are about equal in those terms. MS' botched (to put it nicely) launch has also helped Sony.

Ugh, I can't stand the slow response of Killzone games at all. KZ2 was definitely not my favorite as I was very vocal of the crappy deadzone the game had. KZ3 felt and played a lot better in that respect. KZ Shadowfall feels way too damn clunky for online play to be enjoyable.

I liked how the weapons felt like they had weight in KZ2. The game was designed around the slower movement and I really enjoyed it. I should point out though that my experience is 100% single player as I never bothered with the MP for any of the games.

I liked the single player -- kinda of all killzone games. They are always so atmospheric, but the abysmal voice acting ruined whatever it had going for it. I also always found that the online play was always a bit slower paced and a certain delay to everything from kills to aiming down sight etc, just felt uber slow.

As for the weighty comment, you turned just as fast with a pistol as you would with a rocket launcher in KZ2, so I didn't see what people were clamoring about for being "weighty". Just my opinion though, it didn't feel enjoyable for me at all.

Killzone has always felt odd to me. Something about the controls just isn't right and I can't explain why. I think it relates to the aiming acceleration or something. I can't ever seem to hit the broad side of a barn in any of them. I completed 2 & 3, but struggled mightily the whole time. I played the new one at a friends house and didn't care for it either. The fact that it was still 30FPS didn't do much to sell me on it, too.

Shadowfall killed it for me when I got the point where you had to hack doors to keep the baddies away. A constant flow of enemies pretty much made me ragequit on the second door. I'm definitely trading it in.

Second Son was a blast to play, though the general feeling of Seattle was a bit underwhelming compared to 1 & 2.

Yeah, this is exactly it. The Killzone games don't feel good to play at all. The controls and fluidity of everything is just... so bad.

Although I am disappointed in the sales numbers, I am by no means disappointed in my Xbox One. It gets use every single day. With a PS4, I am absolutely certain that for me, it would have just been collecting dust most of the time.

Have they fixed that whole media streaming issue with the PS4 yet? NHL 15 is the only reason I may buy one.

DLNA is not available on the PS4, it is expected to be released in an upcoming patch (not sure when).

Where's ratchet and clank? until I see those PS4 is a no go... not even going to touch that steaming pile known as Xbox One...

In your opinion that is. By that standard, all the consoles are steaming piles though.

Probably early 2015 but they might be able to work it into 2.0 if they get enough pressure after MS adds it.

That's 100% of the reason I haven't bought one yet. Even without a decent games library, I'd still have a PS4 sitting here if I could stream media akin to or better than with my PS3.

Oh well.
