So the OnePlus One is now here...

Are chinese phones discussion banned here or something when there's so little talk about them? I understand this particular one may gain some interest due to being the "best-of-the-best" but there exist plenty of other great bang-for-buck alternatives.

I've been looking at something along the lines which has interested me most in terms of bang-for-buck:

HTC One design copy
4.7 inch IPS 1280x720 (about as big as I'd ever want)
Quadcore 1.5GHz (Cortex A7)
PowerVRSGX544 gpu
1GB RAM, 8GB ROM
12MP rear camera, 5MP front
2x2200mAh batteries
+bunch of accessories (a nice flip cover leather case)

All this for a measly 140€, corresponding Samsung phone would be like 400-500€. sick...

That right there is why it is so goddamn cheap. Unless it has a very light ROM it'll run like shit and have no room for storage.

Well you can add a microSD card for up to 64GB extra, all the chinese phones seem to carry microsd slot, dual sim slots... :p I'm totally fine with 8GB rom as long as there's a microsd slot for pictures storing. Bigger brands typically have 4GB for same priceclass.

I was already interested in getting one of these and ditching my iPhone... and I think my iPhone read my mind and is now revolting on me.

The stupid home button stopped working reliably all of a sudden while I was surfing on EBay looking at what invites were going for LOL.

Grrr......

Yup, I'm trying to hold out for another invite to come up.... but I might just have to settle for something else like the Xperia Z Ultra or the Huawei Ascend Mate 2. I'm getting sick of the cracked screen on my trusty old GNex.....

Guys this company is shady. Costumer service is atrocious, and yellow screens run rampant. Be warned I've bought two of these so far

From what I've heard, the yellow screen thing is because of glue near the bottom edge of the screen that hasn't cured yet. People have fixed it by either leaving the phone in the sun for a day or under a strong UV light for several hours. Even without doing that the yellow will fade on it's own as the glue cures...

Can't really speak for customer service though.... as long as the phone works (if I ever get one) I don't really care at this price.

The UV and sunlight exposure doesn't work for most people (myself included) and those who claim it works havnt really shown proof. I've been on the oneplus forums routinely trying to find a fix. Also oneplus intentionally deletes posts and threads of people complaining about the issue at an attempt to silence the problem

maybe the oneplus phones are using reject parts off the oppo assembly line?

I just need a new phone since my current device's touchscreen is getting wonky, but at this rate I will just hold out for a new Nexus announcement.

I am so over this phone already. So many other phones coming out soon I'd rather have. And none of them I'd buy off contract, I am on ATT, so only costs me $199.

- Note 4 due out next month.
- Nexus 6 Phablet
- Moto X sequel
- Sony Z3

Seems like a really interesting phone. I'm pretty hooked on my iPhone but looking for something I could use internationally. Looks like this supports LTE in Europe and the US. Would love to try the 16GB model if anyone has a spare invite...

You do realize that the phone does not cost you $199. You are paying for the phone in your monthly payment.

I'm on the 10gb family share plan and you get a $25 credit for BYOP. So rather than each line costing $40/mo they are billed at $15/mo.

But with many US carriers it doesn't make sense to not take the subsidy for many reasons. People claim it is more expensive but by the time I purchase a phone through amazon, newegg or some other online person, activate it, and pay my bills my sprint bill is nearly the same price as any other service I could get. And I don't have to worry about roaming or anything else, plus have access to sprint stores for repairs anywhere I am.

If you are buying a phone new, retail price. I just pick them up off Swappa or CTO. Phone prices tank about 2 or 3 months after release. Kind of like buying a new car. You lost money as soon as you drive it off the lot. Once you open the box of a new phone the value drops.

Wow, didn't know Swappa existed. Picked up a mint Nexus 5 international version at a very solid price, exactly what I was looking for for my upcoming trip. Thanks!

Looks like I no longer need to think about finding a OnePlus One.

I have two invites if anyone is interested.

All gone. Will advise if/when I get more.

I thought about asking for one, but unsure if it's worth the trouble of rolling the dice with this company after all this waiting.

It will definitely bum you out. I've been on the hunt for an invite for a few weeks now. Still no luck.

I've heard you end up with 3 invites after buying the phone, so hopefully I'll get some to pass back to people here if anyone is still interested.

Wow... wonder if they are just that far behind in manufacturing or if there's some other issue?

Guess we'll see how it goes. Still waiting for mine to ship and in the meantime, trying to find things under Android to somewhat duplicate the interface I have on my jailbroken iPhone.... and not having a lot of luck in some areas.

OnePlus “Ladies First” invite contest adds sexism as another embarrassing black eye to eCommerce

Yet another reason not to buy this phone and support this BS company  I mean the invite system nightmare was sad enough, and now this  On principle, no way I'd buy this phone, fuck em for being such douche bags at poor marketing, and lack of production.

The Nexus 6 is just two months away, will be the same price, but run next gen / newer hardware and have Android L running out of the box.

For the fucks sake... I think the cry babies are the problem. Boohooo.

Got mine in. Came in 2 Day USPS with signature confirmation.

Got the case and SIM adapter today too, so only the screen protector didnt make it in time and looks like it'll show up tomorrow or Saturday so I can put it all together and start configuring it.

A quick exam of it and I'm impressed. Its solid, feels great in my hand and from what I could see of the screen for a quick test power-on, its really going to be a nice upgrade from my iPhone.

Got mine as well. This thing is HUGE and I usually have a pretty high tolerance for these things. Might sell it and go back to a Nexus 5 for my travels.
