A Picture I Took 2014 - Contains NSFW Images

damn, totally forgot about this thread this year for some reason. Great pics from the lot of you, as always. Images I can't hope to approach in quality. That being said, here's my catchup note with my humble offerings.

Love these shots. I'm so bad at panning and catching things in action. Just enough shutter speed to freeze the planes, and not too much that you lose the propeller spinning. These look awesome!

^^^ Your shots of AZ are just incredible. Finally check out your site, great blog too.

lightning storm tonight, nothing spectacular as I was shooting out my front and back yard, but rare enough here in the PacNW that I took the opportunity.

I found myself carrying my gopro almost all the time. It's so small, discrete, and almost always just looks cool due to the fisheye effect, it has essentially become my everyday carry. I take it EVERYWHERE. Work, concerts, misc adventures, bunjee jumping, etc... The fact that your phone acts as a live view screen to the camera and the fact you can strap it to anything is a HUGE plus. Shots from the past week or so:

This one doesn't look so good to me. It looks forced and strained. In particular it's the set of her arm and the look on her face. The next one is much better.

Thanks. I do a mix of fashion and glamour so we were trying to do some more powerful poses than glamorous poses for some of the shots.

The pose may look less awkward if you rotate the image a little so that it doesn't make her look like she's leaning back so much.

More to come from this shoot. It was a first for me to light up a car strobist-style. I'm not super-happy with the results, and I'm not super-happy with the car, but the car's owner considers this her baby and I shot it in the hopes of shooting her other car, a Silvia S15.

The really good stuff starts about halfway through.

Whaddya mean, 'halfway through'? :D Do you have no love for the Fieseler Storch? :)

Great photos, great video, you obviously had a great day, and they do great work keeping these planes flying.

This is my first post to the "A Picture I Took" thread.

We were down in Vero Beach, FL last week for a family vacation. There were a couple of storms that came thru that had some crazy clouds, etc. Made for some good pics!!!

Holy cow! Awesome pic. Love that crazy clouds.

Yeah. Although I gotta say I'm surprised at just how effective bare flash can be on shooting a car. I guess the other alternative is a car-sized (or bigger) softbox, and anything in between just gives you bigger light reflections if you want to clone them out.

Or light painting. I've got some stuff on the way to give that a try.

Coming back from my 5 month hiatus.. trying to remember how to shoot.. lol

Welcome back

Love the soft light in this shot, it almost makes it look like it was taken in the 60's, but not bad at all. And she doesn't look awkward which is good, seen that a lot, almost forced, this looked good.
