If my title doesn't elude to my ignorance, this should. I only just heard of an A-TW polarizer yesterday. Just bought a 27" Catleap. And while I'm very happy with the display, the IPS glow is a little strong. I could probably get used to it. But if I can do something to fix it, that would be even better.

When I search for retailers that might be a source for something like this, all I come up with is photography equipment. Am I wrong in thinking an ATW polarizer is just something akin to a matte anti-glare coating sitting between your LCD and your eyeballs? I have visions of buying a sheet, cutting it to size and carefully laying it over my meticulously cleaned panel, much like a cell-phone screen protector.

A-TW polarizers were used on some older S-IPS monitors, AFAIK, including several popular NEC models. I'm not so sure they're still used on many less expensive IPS monitors today. I don't think you can buy and install one, at least, I've never heard of such a thing.

Never heard of any being available from a 3rd party or installable either.

If you want IPS with A-TW, there is something similar (or it is an A-TW and simply not announced) with the Eizo 2736 and some of their high-end coloredge models.

I'll try pinging a few MFG's of polarizer sheets to try and get some info from them. I have a feeling they will need to know certain details about what color/wavelength the IPS glow occurs at in order to block it. But then you don't want to kill the brightness/contrast over the rest of the color spectrum. So I would have to rely on their expertise for something like that.

Perhaps A-TW polarizers were expensive mainly because they had to be engineered specific to each panel? If so, that will pretty much kill any hopes of going the DIY route.

After a while, I started to notice that my catleaps defualt brightness was probably a little too high. So lowering it some did help with IPS glow. Though, I can't sit as close to my monitor as what I used to.

I think polarizers come in pairs -- one behind the LCD and one on top and I suspect they are made to complement each other.
