Hi all,

I'm looking for a new monitor with the following criteria:

$700 budget roughly.
30-32"
Ultra low input lag
Good motion handling
Matte screen coating
IPS,PLS or AH-VA (or their variants) for wide viewing angles without gamma/color shifts. 'IPS Glow' doesn't bother me as much per se.
I'm flexible on resolution. Willing to go as low as 1920x1080 or to 2560 by 1xxx.
No flicker.

Any advice appreciated.

As you've come to expect from Monoprice, we stand behind our products and offer a full 1 year warranty, which is at least 3-4 times what is offered by other monitor manufacturers. Additionally, we are so confident of the quality of these displays that we are guaranteeing these monitor will have less than 5 dead pixels. If you can count 5 dead pixels anywhere on the screen, we'll give you a replacement.

A lot of nonsense on one page!!

Also: CCFL backlight at this size has too high minimum brightness. Single input usually means no inputlag.

Never heard of that model before though.

All matte 30" CCFL back-lit monitors use grainy matte coatings, have poor black levels and the Monoprice monitor is wide gamut and lacks an sRGB mode so it can't display colors properly in games. The HP Z30i is the only LED back-lit 30" under 1300$ which does not suffer from excessive overshoot ghosting but it has awful colors.

The Acer B326HUL (it's pretty much the same as the BenQ but has faster pixel response times, but more overshoot ghosting) and BenQ BL3210PT (TFT Central's Review) use 1440p A-MVA panels but have a frame of input lag and ghost more than good AHVA/IPS/PLS panels.

The Sony KDL32W700B should have low input lag like their other 700 series monitors but it is quite expensive for a 32" and the KDL42W700B is a better value (32" is 600$ vs 750$ for the 42" in Canada for example). Review of the 42" (UK Version is 705B).

30" IPS suck compared to most of the 21.5-27" AHVA/IPS/PLS so forget about them. A Sony TV or overclock-able MOTV M2700 (my review, it uses the same panel as the Yamakasi 2B and Overlord Temptest) or matte (semi-glossy) Qnix/X-Star are by far the best choices for delay free PC gaming for those who do not want a TN panel. This thread contains reviews of the best 27" 1440p monitors.

I dunno about that Sony TV. It's expensive, hard to find, and uses a VA panel, which has poor viewing angles, the OPs biggest criteria. I don't know about desktop VA panels which people rave about, but even the most expensive VA panels on TVs have narrow viewing angles. Am also iffy about whether the 32" is even VA, since I know a lot of 32" TVs are just one of LG's crappy IPS panels. There's no consistency within any line of TVs.

Sony and Samsung use VA panels. LG and Philips used to use both IPS and VA, but LG mostly only uses IPS panels now.

Unfortunately it doesn't.

Same problem as last year's W6 32" model which has around 32ms.

Only the 42" W6 & W7 have sub-1 frame input lag.

I'm interested in the KDL-32W700B or something similar that's 32" with low input lag and high picture quality for console gaming.

Can you or someone else link to where it shows the newer W7 model having 30ms+ lag?

I was going to order the newer 32" W7 model but decided to give the 2013 model KDL-W650A a shot first to see what I think of a 32" TV replacing my 27" monitor for PS4 gaming. I got a wicked deal from Sony on a refurb today.

The 6 series has higher input lag (2 frames vs 1)...wicked deal? They have never dropped below 550$ in Canada.

Yeah I know the 32" W6 model is supposedly up around 28-30ms instead of 14-15ms like the newer W7 but I've seen a lot of users comment gaming on it without noticing any input lag and it has stellar picture quality so since it's so similar to the W7 I wanted to give it a shot to see if I like it before ordering an import that I can't as easily return.

I ordered it directly from Sony over the phone and got a refurb discounted to only $284.99 plus another $39.99 for a 2 year warranty.

That's because "a lot" of people are simply too slow with their senses. A lot of people don't see the stupid 50 (probably 60 in the US) Hz flickering LED's (connected to half-wave rectifiers?) either. Or even worsen: stupid PWM-dimmed car taillights that create a dotted line when you move your eyes (very distracting).

A lot of people didn't see the 60 Hz flicker of CRT's at Win XP default settings either.

A lof of people said didn't notice the inputlag on Samsung 244T; it is 40+ ms.

Never, ever trust "a lot" of user comments. Always go by the hard proof.
