I have heard this "everyone else is doing it" argument before. The sad part is that it is usually children that use this as an excuse.

Verizon Wireless told federal regulators Monday that the company isn’t doing anything wrong under its new plan to slow network speeds for its heaviest data users during peak periods, arguing that other carriers are doing the same thing.

What I hope (and of course, likely won't happen) is that this causes the FCC to whip everyone into shape, not just Verizon.

Ha, just kidding, I must be high. Verizon has more than enough money to pay its way out of this, bring the rest in and this guy could fill an Olympic swimming pool (or a dozen) with 500 euro bills.

If only there was some enforcement organization that could regulate the industry!

Remember, he who makes the rules need not abide by them...
Rules, honesty, morality, those are the things that only the poor must live by.

This explains why my 75 Down / 50 Up internet speed from Verizon Fios are so crappy during peak hours. Fuckers I will call them and have them give me the reg 30 Down / 15 up since they want to be
lil fuck heads..

its not the same thing you can't compare hardline vs wireless as Wireless allways has a technical limit that no amount of bandwidth upgrades can fix (the mast will already have more then what the mast needs, radio has limits)

all you can do is traffic shape the top 5-10% down to keep some useable speeds on mobile networks (i would guess around 3mb/s be the target speed)

Unlimited data should've never been an option with mobile networks as it tends to bite you back later on (more so when you Fail to implement congested mast slow downs for top 5-10% users)

but the issue Verizon is only targeting Unlimited data users (but realistically they are the ones to be in the top 5% first but be interesting how many are even still on a old Unlimited plan)

How can they cap?! How can they cap me?!

I thought this was only about Verizon Wireless service, not Verizon FIOS. So either you're mistaken or I just learned they do it with their FIOS service, too.

honestly when october rolls around this is going to only embolden me to see exactly how much data i can push through in 1 month. Presumably after 4.7gb they will cap me at a specific speed, and I am going to find a way to push data on my phone every night no matter what the cap is.

fuck em.

thats just childish, you just make it worse for everyone els who has unlimited data or even limited plans on your local mast

the Defined limit you think it is is just based of the local mast if its not under high load you be able to download with out any issues

upgrade infrastructure? But that'll eat into our $billion plus profits!

You'd think the Ferengi are infiltrating all of our corporations and lobby these days.

Yes, it's childish to use your unlimited data without limit. He's doing exactly what any big business would do (and do) with their own benefits. It's life, deal with it.

Yeah as I said in other threads about this I wanna see how much I'm actually effected by this come October

As stated in another thread, this is determined by whom..Verizon? With no way for the customer to view/see? They can just decide at 3:27 p.m. Puterguru is using too much data on congested network, SLOW HIM DOWN! However likeman may continue on because he's paying us extra for a 20Gb plan and only at 5. You know Unlimited data congest the network more than limited data right? That's not meant towards you, it's meant towards them...

i do agree the traffic management should be placed on any type of user, it should not matter if they are on a limited plan or a unlimited data plan (unless they pay a lot more for Priority, i would thought business plans)
