Uh oh, it looks like a lovers' quarrel is brewing between Microsoft and Samsung.

Microsoft Corp sued Samsung Electronics Co Ltd on Friday, claiming the South Korean smartphone maker refused to make a royalty payment last fall on patent licenses after Microsoft announced its intention to acquire Nokia's handset business. Samsung made its royalty payments to Microsoft during the first fiscal year after they signed their 2011 agreement, the lawsuit said. However after Microsoft announced the Nokia deal last year, Samsung initially refused to make another payment, the lawsuit said.

I am surprised Samsung wants to anger MS staying on good terms with them could be a card they need in their negotiations with Google.

Considering the fuckery that Microsoft has done with Android patents, I'm behind Samsung. They do make more money from the patents than they do from their Windows Mobile phones.

Good, fuck them. Samsung's business practices are incredibly slimy, and hurt everyone (not just Apple or Microsoft).

Samsung has learned that they can push their way into doing anything they want and the repercussions are nearly always much lower than the benefits and profits gained. They're not the only company to do that by any means, but, they are by far one of the largest and dominate their sectors with that.

MS seems to be pretty above board with their approach to their patents ... the patents in question stretch back many years and every major Android player except Motorola and Google pay the licensing fees ... MS has not used their patents to block market access (like Apple) ... MS is using patents the way they were intended to be used

Status Quo.

Just a few of the other entities with slimy business practices:
Microsoft
Apple
Sony
BoA
General Motors
Comcast
CenturyLink
Cox
EA
Foxconn
Newegg
Verizon
AT&T
T-Mobile
Sprint
...and the list goes on and on.
