Hello, i need some advice on gaming monitors if possible. Im currently using the LG W2361V, which I bought about 5 years ago. Im playing a lot of competetive call of duty on the ps4 and i was thinking about getting a new one, the BenQ RL2455HM. I just feel like a monitor which is probably older than 6 years, can not hang with a gaming monitor released about a year ago? Do you guys think it would be a good idea to get the BenQ, or will it not really make a difference?
Any help would be really appreciated!! :)

The XL- series of monitors from BenQ have the best input lag of any monitor on the market and were specifically designed with FPS gaming in mind. They are more expensive than the RL- series. But the RL- series was designed more with MOBA and RTS in mind, so they are all about visibility. The extra processing the RL- monitor will do if you use them will add to the input lag. In reality I would think input lag between both would be comparable with all extra processing off, and with both having a 1ms GTG response time. It really comes down to which offers extras that better suit your needs.

And yes, either of the BenQ models will smoke your old LG in almost every category for gaming, PC and console. BenQ has a whole site for their RL & XL gaming monitors in which you can decide which would be best for you.

thank you armenius for your answer :) the xl series monitors are like double the price of the rl BenQ one, which i dont really want to spend. and as far as i know, the RL2455HM was used by MLG for COD events, thats why i thought it will be good for it. what i am not sure about though, is if my LG one is really worse than those BenQ monitors, as it has a 2ms response time itself. does a 2ms response time from 6 years ago mean something else (is it worse) than the same response time which is produced today? or are there different features of the BenQ which will enhance the response time in a way for my FPS experience?
thank you a lot for your help!!

Input lag is the sum of the pixel response time and signal processing time. Processing power in monitors has come quite a way in the past 5 years, which is why we have features like dynamic contrast and frame interpolation on modern displays.

If the input lag is less than the frame time, then there will be no visual input lag when the game is locked to the monitor's refresh rate. So while the GTG response time for the LG is only 1ms slower (probably 5ms BTW, like most TN panels of the time), the actual input lag could be 3-4 times slower than a modern 60Hz panel with faster signal processing. An important thing to note about these BenQ monitors is that the total input lag is faster than the frame time at every refresh rate they support, so you'll even benefit from the 60Hz content of the console games you play.

Sensitivity to input lag is a subjective thing. Some people are more sensitive to it than others. But I think once you see the responsiveness of a fast modern panel you will definitely see the benefits. It might not result in better K/D, but I can assure you the experience will be more enjoyable.

As I said, input lag between the RL- and XL- series should be comparable. The RL- series just includes some options that can benefit MOBA and RTS players for that type of gameplay. These options are a penalty on signal processing if you use them, though, but at 60Hz you theoretically have around 11ms of frame time to play around with on these BenQ monitors before input lag becomes an issue.

thank you, you are a huge help!! so i will get a new monitor than. is there a BenQ monitor which is (in your opinion) better suited for FPS games than the RL2455HM, which is in the same price range? or should i just go with the RL2455HM.
thanks a lot for your help!!

I bought a Benq xl2411z from tigerdirect last week for $225 with a tiger direct discount code. They are out of stock at the moment.

I love it, period. I can't say whether its faster than your old monitor but I would assume it would be.

I recommend you look at the xl2411z or lx2420z if you need the additional inputs.

If you do purchase one of these, go to http://www.blurbusters.com/benq/strobe-utility/ for utilities that make the Benq even better.

thanks for your help, but the xl2411z is 270 euros cheapest in germany, which is like 350 dollar. that is by far to much :/

is there a BenQ or ASUS monitor which is (in your opinion) better suited for FPS games than the RL2455HM, which is in the same price range? or should i just go with the RL2455HM.
thanks a lot for your help!!
