Watch Croteam's The Talos Principle In Action

Jesus Christ dudes. Keep an open mind, it looks cool to me. Plus its a smaller dev. they explain later in the vid that some of the devs from SS4 split from the game and did this as a side project, so no wonder it looks similar. Roots are a lot like portals.

Narbacular drop was the first.
Valve hired that development team (students) and they made portal.
So basically portal is pretty much the first real game that used portals.

looks cool but sheesh, whats up with the youtube compression.
i cant tell whats going on.

I think it looks interesting.

What is very interesting is the voice that speaks to the player identifies himself as "Elohim". which is the hebrew word for God.

If you are talking portal gun style portals, yes. If you are talking 3d engine portals linking maps in non linear ways. definitely not at all. Serious sam even did it way back when it first came out which might explain why croteam is messing around with this now.

Plays kinda MYSTish. I like it.

I just hope it isn't one big "Where the Fuck am I" game. I hate mouse in the maze crap.

Prey comes to mind, and I'm sure there were others.

Yep, I'd go with that one too. I had read several articles describing different uses for this back when it was the new thing. Prey was the first time I saw it in action. It was really cool too. There was a little crate in one of the levels that looked normal enough at first. Once you looked inside of it though, you could see another area. Then you could crawl into it, and get into that area. I actually haven't seen something like that since.

I am fine with first-person puzzle and I am probably just not smart or patient enough to get it but this started great, than I realized it's almost 80 minutes of depressing music and horizontal boredom. needs to be streamlined. sounds silly but portals I got in less than 5 seconds. this I did not

So maybe I missed something, but I watched 100% of the first half or so of that video, and skimmed through the rest, but where were the Portal rip-offs? I didn't see any portals at all...

Well, someone said it looks like a Portal knockoff, and we all went off on a portal tangent. :D The only thing that reminded me of Portal is the little turret-looking thing the player was moving around. (and it didn't even really look at all like Portal, just reminded me of it a bit) Otherwise, no, doesn't look like Portal.

Well, I liked the music and the graphics were pretty solid.
Just didn't get interested by the gameplay.
That being said, it has potential and probably has a market, I'm just not the target audience.
