Current FPS... with graphics worthy of a new build.

So, I need a new FPS. I love games like CoD4, etc. The latest CoD kind of turns me off with so many customizations and streak gimmicks. I want a solid gameplay FPS that is not overburdened with too much crap...or am I just daydreaming about good gameplay.

Bioshock Infinite & Titanfall

I recently played Titanfall for the first time at QC this year, it was pretty fun.

Metro Last Light is about as good as you're gonna get in the graphics department. Single player only though; and they're going to release a 'redux' version of it in the near future.

I am thinking about the same thing.

I am going to build a new machine at the end of this year when hopefully Nvidia and Intel release their new hardware, and give this current build to my wife.

However, I am not sure what games can take advantage of a very high end build.

Yeah if you haven't played Metro Last Light yet , you are missing out. Its a fantastic game.

That being said, you might want to wait until August 26th to get into Metro. They are coming out with a Redux version of both games. They claim "Better Graphics" -(This is probably for the first game). Last Light has the best graphics & atmosphere available for the PC.

I just got this game today and have been loving it. It runs like hot butter on a Texas skillet with my rig.

That is, after turning off Physix or whatever in the game menu, with it on, certain levels would literally run at 5-15 fps.

I play at 1920x1080 4xAA on very high settings. Beautiful game engine.

Crysis 3 is always a good game to show off the graphical prowess of a new build, notwithstanding the mediocre SP campaign.

Probably one of the smoothest running games to be released in a the past few years. It is truly an immersive experience.

Warface is a worthy COD clone which is way more fun then COD Ghosts which is being killed in .5 seconds with a Honey Badger. Or the expert camper like a pro with a sniper rifle.

Warface is free too for the most part.. way better looking then Counterstrike which just has a guy with a stiff arm aiming a rifle.

metro 2033 and crysis 2.

2033 because it is more survival horror than last light and it still looks awesome.

crysis 2 has a good story and visuals, everyone just hated that it wasn't as open world as it's predecessor.
Crysis 3 has some eyecandy, but it is mediocre in all other areas.

ive heard horrible things about warface.
the best cod clone, which is also f2p, is black light retribution. imo

the graphics are nothing crazy, but are better than a lot of $60 titles.

it can be played completely free, but it takes a lot of time to purchase some upgrades with in game currency.

Can't believe I'm not seeing BF4 in this group. Current MP FPS king in my opinion, even with its shady release.

I have to agree on the 2033 Redux, both originals were gorgeous with decent gameplay. Also the Wolfenstien New Order recommendation.

The first half of the original Crysis is still great fun to play, but all three have excellent graphics if that is what you're after. Forgettable gameplay, but great graphics.

Titanfall was ok in my opinion, but if you are looking for a break from CoD style gaming, it might be too familiar.

Personally I like a little RPG in my FPS, and nothing beats the Witcher 2, particularly during a Steam sale.

Oh yes, I broke out my old Crysis dvd and loaded it up...it is a great looking game still with all the eye candy on, and I have replayed all the way up till the alien ship/iceworld crap.

I find it fun replaying it in non standard order, hunting down and killing EVERYTHING in the level, exploring every nook and cranny.

ARMA3 as highly set as can be looks incredible. BUT its not at all like COD4... its a milsim... about as far removed from COD4 as could be. But still, its' scale plus its' graphics make for a really great experience IMO

Yeah, I love ARMA 2. Been playing it the last couple weeks and it's addicting at least until now where I can't find the damn Insurgent main base in the "Manhattan" mission. Other than that, I can't play it on highest settings... I can't imagine the kind of rig I would need to max out ARMA 3.
