Not to take anything away from this kid but this would be an easy app to make because all politicians are sellouts. ;)

But thanks to 16-year-old Nick Rubin, keeping track of just how much politicians have sold out has become a lot easier. He created Greenhouse, a new browser plug-in that operates under the motto "Some are red. Some are blue. All are green." The plugin aims "to shine light on a social and industrial disease of today: the undue influence of money in our Congress."

this information has been avialable for a long time. it doesnt matter since come election time these same politicians will make all the right noises that a majority of their base will listen too, and get elected again. if when they do the opposite the other 99% of the time.

until that ends.. nothing will change

Is it possible to make lobbying illegal? What would it take to get the votes?

Nope. SCOTUS has declared that money is speech.

Would take probably nothing short of an Amendment to the US Constitution for it not to get thrown out...and the odds of getting Congress to do anything much less cutoff their own private incomes is nearly zero. Only the mathematics of probability prevent me from calling it "zero".

No, it doesn't matter because come election time, all the politicians will get re-elected anyway thanks to gerrymandering. Kinda hard to lose when you draw your district lines around a population where 80+% vote for your party...

Incumbent or not is irrelevant.

Everyone campaigns on the premise that they need to go to Washington to fix corruption...and then promptly hop on the gravy train and become part of the problem.

Same reason why term limits bills are a waste of time.

This app is totally unnecessary. They're all sellouts and all need replacing.

It's the fault of the corrupt news media for failing to report the truth and hold those in power accountable. I also blame the education system that fails to teach the truth but instead indoctrinate kids to their leftist ideology.

We are now a nation of ignorant and stupid young people.

They should be required to wear Nascar style jump suits with logos of their donors prominently displayed.

There are also a crap-ton of ignorant and stupid old people.
In fact, I blame said old people who did know better who allowed all of this 1984 stuff to happen.

Also, who controls the news media? The politicians.
Who controls the education system? The politicians.

Sounds like you are blaming the wrong things for the wrong reasons, just saying.

Fixed that for you. Tell me how CNN dwelling on a downed airliner for months wasn't an attempt to dodge currrent headline which reflected poorly on their star.

Maybe because the powers that be (politicians) didn't want said attention on their star?
The news media is bought and paid for; this really isn't a conspiracy, it's just general knowledge and has been for years.

What people deserve is information. When we buy our food, we decided that it should be law to label the nutrition info. People can still eat unhealthy if they want to, but at least they know exactly what they are getting.

What we need is something like that in voting boots.

It not only shows you the candidate, but it shows you what they voted on and their campaign contributors and what not in a simple to view format. THAT would really help I think.

Actually, they really don't.
Go to a fast food restaurant.

Taco Bell: The meat is grade F, which allows up to 10% feces as long as the meat is cooked.
McDonald's and Burger King: Pink slime is used in the meat, just look it up.

Not to mention how most foods and drinks made are carcinogenic and contain many cancer-causing elements and ingredients.
Genetically-altered food is also incredibly bad; there is a reason cancer-rates for humans now is higher than it ever was in the past.

So, what were you saying about "knowing exactly what we are eating", hmm?

Meat isn't graded that way (urban myth), and 10% feces isn't something that could be sold anywhere.

You'd know exactly what you were eating if you bothered to check.

The carcinogenic paranoia is mostly irrational. Just because there's an element that matched one found in a carcinogenic, doesn't mean it's at all the same.

GMO's, meh, though I agree they need much more scrutiny, most of what I've read about it is fear mongering. You can thank the uninformed and politically biased for that. There are some real concerns there, but it gets lost in the "WE"RE ALL GONNA DIE!" being screamed all over. Very similar to the global warming discussion.

Pure FUD.

Someone has watched too much jamie oliver and bought into it.

All of this talk of meat processing reminds of when I read "The Jungle" in high school. Didn't eat meat for a week. Which isn't a bad thing. I love my meat, but talking about it does make me kind of nauseas.

All fast food restaurants that I've personally dealt with have nutrition information posted on their websites, as well as calorie content on posters and/or flyers at the restaurant (which I think is required by law, but I'm not sure). McDonalds at least is now posting calorie content directly on the menu.

Bullshit ruling. If speech = money, then why can't I pay my mortgage with words and phrases?

Money is speech, speech isn't money. The only time speech is money is if you're saying something people are willing to pay to hear.

Because you're less of a "people" than corporations are.

And the ruling isn't just "corporations", unions are bigger political spenders than most corporations.

Given SuperPACs and their money-laundering 501(c)4s that is nothing more than an unsubstantiated guess, now.

I take offense to that :D I may be young, but I'm not stupid, nor did I give a crap about what my teachers had to say when trying to force their leftist views upon me, instead I make my own decisions based off of facts and logical reasoning. Something 90% of my classmates when I was in High School did not do. Sheep...

This is actually a good thing.

Lots of people these days, kids and adults, use their phones for everything. While the information was previously available in many other avenues, having it on the phone might actually increase the possibility of it being read.

I decided that becoming a vegetarian was a missed steak. :D

Eh, i dont think thats true, i think they could do it legislatively by publicly funding all elections. I took the decision as if a person can give money to a candidate so can a corporation

I went through some in my state. They are part of certain groups (Agriculture, Communications, etc.), and their biggest contributors are those in that industry that gets the laws and policies in their favor. Communications? Comcast is a big contributor, and they vote in favor of Comcast... Conflict of interest? I'd say so. They should be considered bribes. It's obvious that's what they are... The people don't want it, but the main contributor does - contributor wins. Fuck that. They are buying politicians (and have been for a long time), and they made it completely legal to do so.

How do you fix it when those in power are the ones that benefit and have the most to lose if they do fix it. The ones that can fix it won't fix it. :/

Diatribe about leftist education, check
Patting self on back for logical thought, check
Calling everyone sheep, check

Grats, kid. You have a future as a cookie cutter right ring blowhard.
