Why is it that everyone that gets busted for hacking blames Asperger's syndrome?

He was arrested in March 2014 by the Australian Cybercrime Unit. Before his arrest, he would sell legacy skins that were discontinued--but he obtained illegally--for $200 to $800 each. After he was let out on bail, he created a website called LoLip-op.com where people could pay to kick any one of those 24.5 million accounts and even setup DDoS attacks on players to help the buyer win matches. The site netted Duffy $1,000 or more a day. He was arrested again soon after and the police managed to seize $110,000 of Bitcoin from his records.

"He first started using the information he gained from his hacks by kicking top players from the game like James "Phantoml0rd" Varga during one of his Twitch streams. He even transferred Phantoml0rd's account to Brazil so Varga's games would lag."

That's actually pretty funny. Sounds like he didn't much care for this "Phantoml0rd". Probably justified. Most of the things, besides selling skins, was just petty hacker shit. In my opinion any community willing to spend $200-$800 on a digital "skin" deserves everything that comes to them. A fool and his money are easily separated, and all that.

All this tells me is the idiot didn't know how to secure neither his identity online nor encrypt his BTC.

BTC encrypted and put in cold storage = "I keep my $ you mafioso's!"

I read this last week or so and I'm just amazed at what these people with these "disorders" can do when they focus on something.

I also shake my head at those companies that deny everything until there's absolutely no possible way to not call BS.

Ugh, ok this shit has to fucking stop

All these people using aspergers/autism as a defense is seriously pissing me off, it diminishes the hard work of many many people who work tirelessly to better themselves in spite of their disabilities, when these clowns just come in and use their illness as an excuse to do terrible shit

I ROFL thinking that maybe some of those BTC were made "legally" by regular bitmining, but now stand as evidence of criminal activities.:D

Wasn't this the same illness the hacker who "hacked" into the US gov'ment/Pentagon systems looking for UFO evidence had?

I have Asperger's and people like this really, really piss me off. Just because you might have Asperger's doesn't mean you don't know right from wrong. People struggle with this shit EVERY. DAMN. DAY. and often go through years of therapy to be able to function in normal society. So, fuck this guy.

Aspergers (or whatever they are calling it this year) can cause people to become socially isolated at a young age. If these people continue to remain isolated as adults, they may begin to reject humanity in general, including its moral code.

While this social isolation can happen with any disability, aspergers often has the "side effect" of above-average intelligence. This makes people who have aspergers and have rejected humanity's morals potentially more dangerous than average.

Aspergers is more of a pre-requisite for this kind of bad behavior, rather than being the direct cause of (and excuse for) the behavior.

If he hadn't had aspergers, he probably wouldn't have done what he did, but the aspergers didn't make him do it.

If you managed to get your bitcoin "seized" you're an idiot. Put your wallet on a microSD and hide it.

I wrote addresses out by hand. No printer, no online wallet, no offline wallet.

Transposed to a few special locations.
