Google+ announced today that there is no longer a restriction on what name you can use on your account. This will no doubt make all three Google+ users happy. :D

Over the years, as Google+ grew and its community became established, we steadily opened up this policy, from allowing +Page owners to use any name of their choosing to letting YouTube users bring their usernames into Google+. Today, we are taking the last step: there are no more restrictions on what name you can use.

It is the 3rd most active social media site, and only people who make posts are considered active.
Are you kidding me? No one uses Google+, but what happens is that if you don't uncheck the default option on youtube, your comments count as Google+ posts since it also posts it there.

All that happened is that Google forced youtube users onto Google+, no one uses Google+ for its own sake, at least no one with a soul.

The Nymwars comes to an end.. and somewhere Violet Blue is smiling.. probably not about this.. but about something.

Being third in a race of like five or six isn't exactly an accomplishment worth bragging about. Besides, Eric Schmidt and company are giving it all the pervy eyeball and logging to harvest sweet money. At least Facebook, for as equally creepy and disgusting as it is, has decent games to play.

As a long time Google+ user i could care less about this change :|

also people implying that Facebook is any better or worse than Google+ obviously don't actually hang out with their friends in real life or they would give zero f$#ks about either.

I use G+ for talking to family and sharing pics and stuff.. Family I care about anyway. I find it funny that all of the family I don't care about aren't on G+, works out for me!

I just tried it. I just get an error "We're unable to save your changes." Piece of shit.

It's kind of too bad that we can't just NSA something instead of googling it...

Never wanted to join because of the name thing.

If [H] required real names, I'll close my account here as well.
It's the internet, naming yourself whatever you want is part of the fun.

....can i finally post comments on youtube again? every time i try to it told me to switch accounts/names or make new accounts or different changes.

haven't posted anything for over a year now i think.

It defaults your posts on Youtube to post on g+, so that's bogus. 3rd most active my ass, no one asks people to be in their circle.

I don't comment on Youtube videos anymore because fuck their little policy.

I don't post comments to Youtube, but I occasionally sign in to see things like red band trailers due to the age restriction. Every time I do it pops up asking me to use my real name with the default selection on it, and every time I have to tell them fuck no. I want to know how in the hell Google got my real name to begin with because my Gmail account has always been my spam/ad/forum e-mail, and none of the messages that have come in or gone out ever contained my real name...

Paranoid lot, aren't yeah. If you use the internet, you don't do so privately, so just get over it.

This goes along with the previous "not a real social network" policy.

if you make a comment on YT, you make a comment on google+

TLDR: They cheated.

Yeah, inactive Facebook accounts aren't cheating . Get over it.

Lol @ a site of 100k users making fun of a site with tens of millions as "a few". That would mean no one uses H.

Maybe if you're from the social media / entitlement generation and don't understand the concept of privacy, you'd think that. You grew up without it and think it's history?

Being 35, I certainly understand what you mean, but it's no longer relevant. "Privacy" has moved on. If you want privacy, you move to Alaska.

You can keep fighting the system, but you'll have a crappy internet experience. I'm not saying I like it, but learning to accept it will reduce the ulcers.

Sadly true.... I make a little concession at times for the convenience but I am not the majority and I know it :(.

Just for the heck of it I just tried to register a new account on Google+. it still will not accept a single name.

Tell you a little "secret". Those restrictions don't apply when the video is embedded :)
