Upgrade VH242H to VG248QE? Or go Korean?

I currently have and have been using an Asus VH242H for quite a while now. Over 3 years now, probably. But I've feel like I might be missing out on a better gaming experience.

If I were to make the switch to the VG248QE (or similar) would I really gain that much? Spec-wise they seem night and day. I really just want a vivid, clear, sharp, blur-free image while gaming.

I'm mostly playing games like Bioshock, Mass Effect, Crysis, Trine. As a side bar, I do dabble in SW from time to time, but it is far from this workstation's primary function.

I've been considering the QNIX QX2710 and have had it in my cart several times (along with a monoprice stand), but just can't bring myself to commit given the potential issues and that I'm not really thinking a 27" is necessary (though I'm not entirely opposed).

What say you?

PS: I have $250 in Amazon gift cards at the moment, so it would be great if the potential upgrade was available there. Prime would be even better, but as far as QNIX there is only 1 prime option and I've been advised against the Evo II.

The VG248QE uses a pretty poor quality TN Film panel. The panel in the VH242H is probably higher quality than the VG248QE, but it is limited to 60 Hz.

I think it would be worth it grabbing that QNIX. Most people have said that despite the warnings that go along with ordering from an off-brand Korean manufacturer their screens have been perfect. They use a good quality Samsung 1440p IPS panel that can be overdriven to 90+Hz, and it's only around $300. You would have to spend $500+ on a similar name brand product.

will the QNIX suffer from motion blur and ghosting like my Korean 1440p monex.as mine wont overclock.so im stuck at 60hz

Matte (semi-glossy) Qnix/X-Star or glossy Yamakasi Catleap/MOTV M2700 (they use the same panel, this thread contains review links). The G-Sync-less VG248QE is a waste of money and not as good as the 120hz BenQ Z series and upcoming VG248QE with Ultra Light Boost.

The blur free Lightboost mode is the only compelling feature the current VG248QE offers, but the Lightboost mode also has awful color quality and poor black levels, even compared to 8+ year old TN panels.

Thanks for weighing in, NCX. Like many others, I really appreciate your thorough reviews and professional analysis of such a wide variety of displays. And you can bet that I based my decision on the matte QNIX QX2710 HEAVILY on your reviews and input on this and other forums. So, thank you.

The monoprice stand and QNIX are currently "out for delivery". My plans are to:
1.) power it up and check it out and enjoy it for awhile
2.) attempt an overclock and custom color profile
3.) remove the bezel and paint matte black
4.) and remove the factory stand stem and install monoprice stand
5.) continue to enjoy

Just make sure it was the non SE version your ordered. The plain vanilla, dvi connection only, qnix qx2710 are the ones to get (and this being the alternative).

Indeed it is. Good to go.

Display arrived totally mint. Zero pixel defects. No detectable BLB. Gorgeous display. Came double boxed.

Edit: and stand mounted.

Love love love this thing.

Edit 2: As it sits now with the new/much more sturdy stand: https://www.dropbox.com/s/d1oquijpsyepgw3/2014-07-15 20.21.54.jpg. Pardon the lame desk, but it works for now while we're trying to move and sell our other house.

And when I attempted bumping up to 120Hz (didn't change anything else), this is what I got: https://www.dropbox.com/s/yx1dtplmindq7uk/2014-07-15 20.32.49.jpg. So I'm back at 96Hz.
