Let’s Nationalize Amazon and Google

Let's nationalize (take back) the government, first, and then let's nationalize Salon (and shut it down.)..;) Hard to understand anyone making any sense out of this kind of ridiculous nonsense.

"Salon," commentary by, for, and about morons...;)

I think it's time to bring back the 1970's bumper sticker: America: Love it or Leave it. Hmmmm....why not? Let's bring the illegals who love the country in, and deport the citizens who hate it. Perfect.

If we are seriously talking nationalizing Google and a frigging SHOPPING site then we should first do the major gasoline and oil companies. And then the banks and all of the roadways. (Removing things like tollways.) not to mention our prison system and also the telco companies. I mean come on...

Just because most everyone interacts with these companies does not mean they should be nationalized.

Define fine? They have poor quality healthcare service with unusually long wait times for specialists, and regarding utilities, they cost a fortune. Just as an example, I pay 7.8 cents per KWH right now, compared to the 18.8 cents per KWH the British pay. People right now are hoping that the brief economic rebound will stay, since they were on the brink of a triple-dip recession earlier in 2013. Average unemployment rate in the EU was also a whopping 12%, and they are suffering unusually high crime rates.

Says the outed fraudster who plagiarizes information and makes contextually irrelevant statements.

I honestly think that many Americans prefer socialism because they have been indoctrinated since young age in schools and on tv to like it. it doesn't help that many of the comedy shows that young people watch are very left leaning too. I was very socialist when I was in high school and college. Thinking "if only we tried it again" "with the right people" it would somehow work. Cant believe I was that naïve.

On many news media, they bash the tea party as if they are bunch of stupid ignorant zealots, and at first I thought that too. But I have encountered many doctors, engineers, normal middle class people who take part in it and talking with them showed me that what news media says and what really happens in the world are two completely different things.

Getting back on subject, We have a DOJ that openly said that some corporations cannot be prosecuted because they might cause disturbances in the economy. In other words "too big to prosecute". Laws are arbitrarily enforced depending on political connection. The socialist says if we have a bigger government to regulate then corporation excesses will be reigned in. but the reason why corruptions is everywhere now is because government is too big. Big corporation bribe politicians to pass various laws to ensure small startups will be busy complying with mountains of paperwork to compete effectively with big corporations, so with too many laws, this encourages everyone to work around it, bribe this bureaucrat or that one to look the other way, effectively destroying the rule of law.

If government didn't have so much power, corporations will have no incentive to lobby congress to do things which it has no power to do. Big government and big corporations historically have a mutually beneficial and symbiotic relationship. The founding fathers didn't created a limited small government on a whim. I wouldn't call google and amazon monopolies yet, they are getting close and even if they are DOJ will never prosecute for the aforementioned reason. The most important part is that if they get into financial trouble, no matter what happens government never ever bail them out

Such as claiming people that are "all about Ron Paul" want more government?

I recall Ron Paul being the favorite among leftists who think America is the problem with the world while completely ignoring that Ron Paul, despite his kooky isolationism ideas, is a libertarian and is for small government and basically the complete opposite of what Obama is. It's a pop culture thing and there was a fringe that loved Ron Paul. Just like it was a cultural thing that got Obama elected; it was the fact he was black and seemed hip and cool ignoring his leftist extremism as a senator and as a professor.

Look a rational post on the internets... call the cops.

I love when free market people are called isolationists. It's like everyone is irony-impaired.

Non-intervention on the other hand...

I swear that Salon and Slate are just fronts for the Koch brothers to make leftists look like comically ridiculous caricatures of themselves.

Take some of the most innovative and creative companies in the US and take away every advantage they had by nationalizing them.

Sacrifice your kids to terrible public schools for the future good of the collective http://www.slate.com/articles/doubl...ly_bad_people_send_their_kids_to_private.html

Almost anything by Amanda Morcotte...

And this gem about the Legend of Zelda, "The Legend of Zelda is classist, sexist and racist" http://www.salon.com/2013/10/05/the_legend_of_zelda_is_classist_sexist_and_racist/

It is like a rabid college republican made up stories based on his impression of what a stoned, jobless Occupy Wall Street stereotype would debate when passing around the bong.

the only kind of interaction that counts is war! Kinetic military action is as much "soft power" as can be acknowledged.

Trade, intellectual exchange, and all the rest of that sissy stuff do not count, you pansy isolationist!

It is more than just the young people using the word Socialism without know the meaning. Go to a tea-bagger rally. They shout it left, right, up, down, and side to side with out having any inclination of the meaning. Only because it is a word talking heads say a lot, so they repeat it.

Holy hell, I've read some stupid crap in my day, but this is in a category all its own. You're somehow blaming the tea party for the rise of socialism. That's like blaming westborough BC for people being gay.

Most of Salon's articles are nuts. Every article is hard core, leftist tripe. Some of them are quite funny if you read between the lines, one article defending tenure described how terribly difficult Algebra I concepts were to teach in ten months (while I learned Calculus I material in 10 weeks).

Anyone who supports such a thing needs to eat a bullet. I mean that.

WTF? Where do people get these DUMBASS ideas?

If you want to go that route, just make this a communist country and be done with it. Just let those of us that don't want that type of shit leave, with our money, etc. first.

With the new laws signed into effect recently, you have to pay an expensive exit fee to give up your citizenship and live somewhere else. Also there are very few places left in the world that is not embracing socialism.

Another interesting tidbit, if you go back just 20 years, a US citizenship is sacrosanct and no one would think of giving it up. However in recent years, the number of people giving it up every year is going up exponentially. It's still in the thousands range, but it makes you think.

Both would love it, once nationalized the government would then be vested in their success and slowly strangle all their competition.

Let's nationalize FedEx and UPS.
After all, they use public roads and public airports.....

LMFAO, American discourse is so utterly pathetic. Salon and Obama are leftists? Really?

They’re huge, they’re ruthless, and they touch every aspect of our daily lives.
Sounds like government. The difference is if you don't like Amazon or Google, you don't have to buy their product. No such freedom when it comes to dealing with the government.

By the standards of American politics, and that's all that matters in this discussion.

Left corporatist, yes.

Let's leave corporations out of this mix shall we ... many republicans and libertarians are pro corporation also since that is the best way for a company to establish a global presence ... the issue with corporations isn't the corporation itself (unless you are anti global trade) but the amount of power they wield in government circles ;)

no, i agree with that. they only really become insidious when they mingle with the involuntary nature of governments.

Forgive my ignorance but, why does anyone give a crap what freaking Salon has to say about anything tech related (or political, or...well...anything not dealing with fashion and beauty)?

It's largely because of the propaganda which was created as a result of the New Deal. Most people are completely oblivious of the amount of public services they use day in and day out.

I love how anything that opposes leftist ideals is propaganda, when the eventual path of socialism is responsible for much of the most recognizable propaganda of the 20th century. Hell, even the 21st, if you look at some of North Korea's.

I wonder how much Microsoft, Apple, Walmart and Barnes and Noble are paying off congressmen to try and get this to happen.

Trust me ... no company wants the government to nationalize an industry ... they much prefer to change the existing rules in their favor, not to go into competition with an entity with virtually unlimited tax dollars and control of the laws ... this is simply the ravings of some left wing wackos ... nothing more
