This says it all.
We had a lot of conversations with Microsoft about what we were doing with Mantle, and in those conversations, they said, 'OK, if you really can solve this problem of building a better throughput system that runs on Windows, then we'd like to take that to Windows as well and we'll make that the extra software functionality that comes in DX 12.' So that's how DX 12 has come about.
 
Mr. Huddy has been keeping very busy since starting back with AMD. Very good read, thanks for posting.
 
And that's just one reason why I'm happy AMD is so open-source-centric right now with things like Mantle and Freesync...even Microsoft knows there is something worthwhile in them.
 
Where is Unknown-One? We need him to come in and write page on page of repeated, generalised statements that completely ignore other users points.

He always seems to come in to every 'mantle isn't that bad' thread.
 
Along with deconstructing statements completely out of context and claiming he never said that when confronted.
