I am looking for a case for my new 17" Sager... I looked at several on Amazon but I am concerned as some users have reported the strap breaking (for several different cases/brands.) I most definitely do not want my expensive laptop to get smashed because a stupid strap broke.

Can anyone recommend a great laptop bag that will hold a 17-inch widescreen laptop (and charger?)

I got a dell bag from microcenter for 20 bucks and its awesome. Really good padding, really sturdy, lots of pockets without being bulky. Highly recommend looking at dell.

If you are serious about a laptop bag or any bag in general then look at timbuk2 or spire.

Sorry, to be clear i want a laptop bag NOT a backpack. I guess I want something with metal rings where the shoulder strap attaches.

Did you not get one with your Sager? Both of my 17 inchers came with cases with metal rings where the straps connect, my Mythlogic however did not come with one.

Check eBags.com. They've got tons of cases, bags, etc. in all price ranges from which to choose. Timbuk2, Victorinox, High Sierra, Samsonite are a few of their top brands.

I checked out ebags, they have a large selection but didn't have anything that suits my needs. Fortunately I just lucked out and found a great Samsonite bag that has metal rings where the shoulder straps attach for 50 bucks - sold!
