34" 21:9 UltraWide Displays (3440x1440) - LG UM95/UM65 & Dell U3415W

Unless I was imagining things, Newegg actually showed the 34UM95 as in-stock around 5PM EST today (wasn't the 3rd party listing). Checked a couple hours later, and they showed sold-out again.

i7-4770K drives it just fine though I had display flickering issues with it under DP 1.2, which wasn't present using a GTX 760. The iGPU must be struggling I presume...

Anyone else try running theirs from HD4600 and have similar issues?

I'll be getting a discreet GPU, eventually and have been wondering if the iGPU would have problems running at that resolution (in the GUI or during video playback.. no gaming, of course).

Just compared the 34um65 to the 95, 95 has more backlight bleed and more input lag, if your a gamer, stay away from the 95, im going to return it for the 65.

The earlier mentioned AOC 34" will be aviable July/August and European price is 700 euro, that's about 400 euro cheaper than LG 34". It will be the same resolution and also 34" but will lack things like Thunderbolt, calibration and will have worse speakers. Still, 700 euro for 34" 3440 screen? Will be a bargain. Was going to buy UM65... but right now I'm waiting for AOC

Where did you get that price from? Hasn't been confirmed from what I can see. I'm interested in this monitor having resigned to the fact the BL3200PT is too big for my tastes (ironic huh?) in terms of height. I don't know if I could live with the IPS glow of an ultrawide monitor though.

It's unofficial from my source in AOC

I really hope the AOC comes in the 600 range I just sold my 120hz monitor for one of these. Also have 2 amd 290's incoming to power it. I really wish they would make a Model with no extra's for cheaper. Like no USB hub no thunderbolt and hell I really don't need a stand it's getting mounted to the wall any way lol.

Quick question since I never used DisplayPort before...but does DisplayPort pass USB data also? I thought I saw something on the UM95 that it does and thats how the USB ports are hooked up?

i hope what u say is true; was wavering a bit because of the dell and aoc coming out soon so i cancelled my 899 dollar order for the lg. I'm not in a huge rush to get it.. i have a gtx670 and probably will wait out for the gtx 800 series. i really want more power efficient graphic cards which is why i dont like the radeon too much. Probably should have bought a 850 W PSU in the first place but oh well.

The Korean version in six months to a year should hit that price point. If you go to amazon or newegg and compare the prices can get a rough idea of where the Korean monitors will.

I have REALLY wanted to a cinematic monitor ever since they came out. But, like many, I decided that the resolution simply wouldn't work for me. These 34" monitors seem to be the perfect compromise.

I did. Although I didn't like the game and uninstalled it in the first 15 mins, it worked fine with all maxed on a 670 gtx.

No screen stretching or anything like that?

It doesn't take a crazy powerful system to run it but its good fun with a group of friends.

Just got my 34UM95-P. Has anyone calibrated their monitor?

BTW this thing is awesome! :D

That is just a beautiful screen. Can't wait to join the club

Also what were you thinking about using to calibrate it? I am looking for a calibrator. Something to calibrate both TV and monitors with.

Man this Monitor is really hard to find now (or at least where I live). I just send my Monitor back because of glow/bleed. I'm not sure if they will fix it or send me a replacement but hopefully I'll at least get my money back instead the same monitor that I sent them.

Anyone have any more info about the release date the of Dell and the AOC version of this monitor?

oh btw do any of you guys change the Monitor Stand to something else and if yes which one did you changed it to? I plan to buy either the ERGOTRON like one of the guy in here did or the Humanscale one but I do love to have a Monitor Stand like the one of AOC version of this Monitor.

Well i'm looking at prices for aoc 29 inch 21:9 compared to the LG 29UM65. Both 21:9 aspect ratio with 2560 x 1080 resolution IPS panel. The difference is only 20 dollars. The LG being 399 and the AOC being 379. I also looked at LG prices in Euros and i'm seeing 745 minus tax and 900 with tax. So prices in UK are retail 1000 USD or so, but most places in US atm are selling at 900 dollars. I have a feeling the AOC will be 800ish dollars given the price difference on the lower end monitors. I might repurchase the LG. I rather pay a bit more for LG than AOC as LG have better history. I don't know if AOC will have issues down the road with bad power supplies or other quality issues. It is only worth it if AOC is priced in the 600-700 range.

According to Canadian distributors, the west coast (British Columbia) should start receiving units today with Ontario receiving its initial shipment early next week.

This date has moved several times already so I take it with a grain of salt, but hopefully it's true

What are you guys using to push this LG monitor? I current have a 680 SLI setup but I think I'm going to have problems gaming since I max out at 2GB of vid mem.

Got a Radeon 295x2 but no UM95 to try it with yet. Getting a 295x2 was cheaper then getting (new) 2x 290x then adding EK water blocks to them.

Its total over kill on my Dell 24in monitor :)

That will run nice when you get the monitor. My 780 Ti's max like anything out on this. I was running Diablo III the other day and it barley used more then 70% of one GPU with max settings, although not as demanding these cards are crazy fast. Crysis 3 looks beautiful maxed out on this monitor too.

Nice, can't wait to see what the retail price ends up being.

The LV343HUPX version sells for $700 USD (converted), which matches up with the €700 that Morgoth mentioned (LG 34UM95 is $1000 in the US and €1000 in Europe).

An MSRP of $700 and street price of ~$600 would slot in nicely above their 29" ultra-wide ($550 MSRP / <$400 street).

Just guessing, though. Read elsewhere that July was the ETA for the u3477Pqu, as Morgoth stated earlier.

Some information about the price of the AOC monitor, which confirms estimations made above :
MSRP 750€ (~750$, yeah, currency convertion behaves weirdly when it comes to electronics), and a launch price of 650€.

Would be nice to have some other sources. I started this thread months ago in anticipation of these displays, but they have been very hard to source. The one that I did order from NewEgg was damaged in shipping and they refunded my money rather than provide a new one due to stock.

I eventually purchased a 120hz qnix 27" from a forum member for $310. I'll be using this until I move to my new place with a bigger desk. Then I may end up using this is a side monitor to a 21:9 34".

Guys, check wsgf.org or flawlesswidescreen.org to check on if your specific games library will be compatible with 21:9
I'm hearing some people have problems, even with flawlesswidescreen.org, but most, if not all the games I play support 21:9

wsgf.org usually shows 21:9 screenshots too

I just went over all the games I currently play. 7-8 of them, and 1-2 of them won't work with 21:9 or require messing with an .ini file, or fussing with flawlesswidescreen.org.

BUT...........Remember.......21:9 is in it's youth, and new games going forward are going to support the rez just fine. Longer time goes on, the less issues with games.
2560 x 1080 (21:9) didn't sell too well due to the short vertical height. So I can see developers not supporting that rez that much. Perhaps they thought it was more of a niche thing.
But now 3440 x 1440 is changing all that. We're seeing this rez (just so far) with LG, Dell, and now AoC. This 3440 x 1440 is selling very well. So this is going to stay. 21:9 is no longer a niche thing.
In time, it's going to be more supported than even triple screens. You watch and see.

Sure, some games you have to fiddle with to get working, but the vast majority work fine, and going forth, it's only gonna be sweeter. Any new game coming out that doesn't support 21:9 isn't worth it's salt.

Ok so has anyone found a good repo of 21:9 wallpapers? And yes I tried Google and got a few but nothing that looks good or is at the proper res. 2560x1080 wallpapers do not scale well to 3440x1440.

Acording to this AOC rep it will be in stock september in UK

Was hoping for a summer release..
Man the Stand on this Monitor is so nice. Alot better than the LG.

btw I hear from another Forum that LG is redesign/fix a little of the 34UM95 monitor. Anyone hear anything about that? Maybe they fix the "pop" sound when you turn on DisplayPort 1.2?

I'm RMA my LG 34UM95 for Backlight Bleeding and hopefully I'll get my money back so I can buy Dell/AOC version or maybe the next batch of LG34UM95.

Warning: Don't try buy this monitor if you think you'll send it back because its REALLY hard to go back to "normal" monitor!! :D:p

Newegg has been shitty. I wait on things for amazon now , especially monitors due to return policy. Unless egg has a crazy sale or something.

newegg "in stock" can be from other sellers rather than newegg itself, which is the only one in stock that I can see from that link -
Sold and Shipped by:
MNW GLOBAL $1400 currently

That just means it sold out at the 999$ price...
It was listed under their standard warranty which is 30 days return.
Obviously not as good as amazon but amazon's page as been out of stock forever.

Ergotron MX^

Just logged into LG's site as I forgot I could track progress of the RMA there, turns out it isn't a 3rd party repair centre but LG UK themselves.

Called up and have been told the worst case scenario is that I get it back Monday but since it was collected on the 12th I should get it back Thursday/Friday so I could potentially get a call from them today to arrange delivery. A "part" has been ordered apparently too but no mention of what part and that's what is being waited on at the moment.

I photograph my own :D
