Last week I sold a Corsair SSD, here.

Subject named parikh.meet94 contacted me via PM on this forum. No post count, no heatware...red flag #1.

Subject expressed interest in the drive and wanted to buy it. Per the terms of my sale thread subject was able to provide a verified Paypal account with a confirmed address. Subject sent the money promptly last Monday evening. I quickly prepared a shipping label through paypal and the drive was shipped out Tuesday morning from my local post office.

The drive arrived Thursday. I received a PM thanking me for my prompt shipping. I feel the transaction is closed.

Today I get a PM from Parikh stating that a friend had offered to sell him the identical drive for $65. Parikh asked for a partial refund to match the price (he payed $95), and if I wouldn't do that he wanted to ship the drive back to me for a full refund.

I told him no. He's had the drive since Thursday and its been a week since he payed for it. I've met all my terms, shipped quickly, packaged well, and was in constant communication until the arrival of the package. I'm not going to eat the $6 it cost to ship the drive using Priority Mail just because he found it for a better price after the fact. Also Its unknown to me if he has attempted to open or use the drive since it arrived.

What would you have done? Has anyone dealt with this subject before? I don't like being an asshole, but now I feel like this person is attempting to scam me, and I don't feel that wanting a better price is a suitable reason for a return. I'm not Amazon, I don't price match.

Normally I'm a hardass about who I will sell to, but it took a month to get this drive sold so I relaxed my standards a little bit.

its people like him who give all noobs like myself a bad rep ,,I would tell him he is stuck with it

Well the next step he may take is filing a paypal dispute. Good luck if that happens .

Well he could just use all of his correspondence via pm in the dispute, basically the buyer trying to solicit a lower price for his bs reason. Hopefully paypal makes the obvious call on that.

We all know how PP will decide.

Respectfully decline, keep your cool, and do bot budge because this is ridiculous.

This is what I'm concerned about. He has received my PM, so ball is in his court now.

Buyer is either looking for a gullible seller, or is just really dense. Either way, tell him to pound sand.

Say no. If you have correspondence evidence that they are only trying to get a lower price (i.e., the item wasn't found to be broken etc.), else they will ship back and open a claim with PP, I can't imagine even given PP's clear track record with siding with the buyer, that they would side with them in this case.

But whatever you do, just conduct it respectfully, don't get heated.

To be honest, what they're doing is complete bullshit.

1st, I would never have sold to him.....but in any event, anyone who contacted me with that story would get told to eat a bag of dicks...I'm also not Amazon, and I generally dont price match...especially after the sale....

Looks like he's just hoping to get a better price on the product. If he's serious he would file a paypal claim to return the drive already and just buy it off his friend.

I wouldn't refund him. He agreed to the price, paid, the drive was shipped to him, he received the drive, end of story. There is no after the sale discount because a 'friend' could sell him the same drive for less. Let him know that if he wants to purchase the lower price drive from his friend he could do RAID 0 and experience better performance.

This is a prime example of why you don't sale items to a new user. They need to earn the right to be able to buy in here. So you shouldn't have done it to begin with. Plus you shouldn't do a price adjustment unless something failed on a item and they like to get the part fixed, wifi card, hard drive in a system, etc. Don't get me wrong we all have to start at some point. But conduct your way that you give back to the community.

Proper Preparation Prevents Piss Poor Performance

The easiest way to solve that is lock them out the For Sale and Trade threads. Sure you can see the page but you cannot open the thread to get the details. EVGA seems to be the best example. Or even for that matter do like Xtremesystems and have it not even show up.

I'm not trying to make a compare to all other forums. But this problem can be easily solved here with just a few adjustments. And it will cut down on all the major BS that happens here weekly from new users getting around the 100 post count.

I laughed so hard at this. You made me spit my drink on my laptop screen.............

Whistles: "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow"

I was polite, but told the individual that a return or partial refund is out of the question. I was never even considering it, but mainly wanted to get some second opinions. Seems we are all on the same page.

Thank you all for your input. I'll let you know how this plays out if/when he responds.

If he really must return it 20% restocking fee + both way shipping cost. If he is willing to eat all these, then I would I accept the return as long as returned in the same condition he received.

I would do same as most are advising and see if he opens a dispute and go through the dispute process. I've had one dispute with eBay and I won. I've had one dispute on [H] and I "won". But you always lose when these things happen, guys. OP expresses regret for "feeling like an asshole". Shit... I know what that's like. You can save yourself a lot of trouble by listening to those little alarm bells or letting yourself heed the little red flags.

Don't trade with n00bies unless it's something small or they can verify their reputation in some other way. They have no rep here. You do. Your sale, as important as it is, is not worth all this heartache and worry. You will probably "win" if dude decides to file a dispute--he will probably not even bother spending the dough to send it back to you if he opens the dispute--but if people just have willpower and refuse to sell to n00bies that aren't obviously classy or connected in some way, then you stand a much much better chance of getting through each transaction clean. It's a war out there people. Take care of yourselves.

hell no. I would not refund him anything. He paid the price and thats final. If he files a dispute take screen shots to show paypal that he is trying scam u by filing a claim for all the money back because he wants it cheaper.

This is why I dont do business with noobies

This is so frustrating, I dont understand it. Why would you think that this is ok. You agreed to a price and terms. Those with integrity think that it is binding. the rest ...... well...... this is how we get into these posts.

OP, Also point him to this thread and let him read whole thing. And If he opens a dispute for this, I would leave him negative heat, if he has one.

Sold is sold.. that's just insane for him to ask that after the fact. Price negotiation ends when they get the item as described. I'm sure I've annoyed plenty of people here with offers that are too low for what they want... but trying to get the price adjusted AFTER agreeing? How did he get the brain cells to find this forum in the first place?

There should be no guilty conscious on your part for the sale, and should not be bullied by the idea that your reputation is sullied because of a account that cannot be verified by yourself thoroughly.

Tell the commie to kick rocks and move on.

Example Given:
I would only give a refund if it was a dear friend of family member of mine, and I could physically verify the better deal (i.e:witnessed it) intimately.

This is one of the reasons I choose to sell on craigs before online. I haven't really run into something like this but I know paypal and ebay side with the buyer most of the time so I'm sure to run into it eventually.

craigs list seems to be so hit or miss, as well as full of lowballers at least here in colorado.

Tell him to fuckn eat a dick. Tell him he can get a refund - shipping costs and he pays return shipping. Id even go as far to hit him up for a restocking fee for being a douche and asking for some dumb shit like that. This isnt walmart...

Keep all your messages to and from him just in case he tries to file a paypal claim. Also keep the receipts from the shipment of it.

has he opened any claims at all with paypal yet? Just curious as to how he took it
