So you thought the Disney Infinity Game was a kid’s interactive video game and a loss-leader for the Disney Corp, huh? Well, look again. Combined sales from all things Infinity have topped the half a Billion mark in the last 10 months and the company is expecting the franchise to hit the Billion mark. Not too Mickey Mouse now, is it? :D

Infinity competes with Activision Blizzard Inc's "Skylanders" franchise that first successfully introduced the concept of toys coming to life on screen when placed on an electronic base.

who thought it was a loss leader? yeah it took a lot to develop but they tapped into the market of continual purchase mechanics. You want to play more? Buy those stupid little toys at 19.99 for 3. BUT MOM I WANT TO PLAY JACK SPARROW... another $19.99.

Yup!
My cousin has 3 boys under 10 and a cabinet full of Infinity figures.
Those things get expensive!

Got this for my boys.

IMO it sucks. It's a cheap Skylanders me to effort and to transparently cynical.

With Skylanders you don't have to buy all the figures, or even a lot to play the game. It's fun. And it's occasionally funny.

Disney infinity is none of that. It's like some half finished demo that requires the purchase of figures to play through the entire experience. For a game that carries a AAA price tag that's just bullshit.

I really can't understand how putting a little figurine on a reader, then playing a game is somehow better than just playing the game with the character already in it. It isn't like you're actually interacting with the figurine - you're just setting him somewhere then focusing your attention on a screen instead.
