These are incredible speakers for the money. I have the the towers for front, the bookshelfs for surround and rear, the center for center, and a Hsu VTF2-MK4 paired with a Yamaha RX-V673. Its incredible for both home theater and music. I went from a Sony HTIB from about 2006 to this setup and the difference has been incredible. From the research I did when purchasing last Fall there is nothing close in this price range and you would have to spend at least 3x as much to get noticeable difference in sound quality.

I'm sure the audiophiles will find some faults with these, but all of the "professional audiophiles" (ie. people who get paid for their opinions) rave about these speakers.

I'm considering buying another pair of bookshelf speakers for my PC, but am not sure if a small t-amp will do them justice since I've read they really open up when you give them about 70 watts.

amazing price -- and I'd love a good set of something like this but after just blowing 1K at home depot and lowes this past month... im out of the "buying stuff" phase for a while.

Wow, Great deal OP!
Question is, is it worth it to replace my 10 year old, but great Sony SS-MF550H loudspeakers to complete the set?

Edit:
I grabbed a pair of the bookshelves to upgrade my Garage Queens. Still deliberating on whether to grab the rest of the set. Thanks again Op!

Damn, I wish the BS-41 were included in this sale. I've been wanting a pair for my PC for a while now.

Deal of the month. I almost bought a pair of the bookshelf speakers these last week for $90 something.

Wish I could pick these up but NO space anywhere in my damn house for these nor any desire to buy another amp/receiver/integrated.

They are WELL worth the MSRP by the way.

IMO go for the bookshelves and the sub, you don't need the floorstander's!

I purchased the floor standers and the center last year. Excellent speakers. The center especially is very high quality and very large. Just purchased the sub since it was on sale.

Well, there goes some more money onto my 6 month financing plan...

Ordered the sub, 2 bookshelves and the center. Already have two Yamaha NS-6490 for the fronts, been waiting for something like this to come by.

The floor standing front speakers are out of stock on prime and they aren't really that cheap at $127.49 + $26.99 shipping so I decided to just grab the rest of the set and keep my current front speakers.

I've been waiting for a deal like this. Thanks, OP!

Bought a pair of bookshelves, center and sub. I don't care about surround sound, but this setup will do nicely hooked up to my old Yamaha RX-V995 receiver. Just gotta pull it out of storage before the speakers arrive.

Damn those are good prices for that set. I have the full set of the first gen ones and I love the setup.

What is best to add to the bookshelf speakers? I'm guessing it would be between the tall floor speakers and the center speaker. Other things I've read say the sub isn't so critical for most things. I couldn't guess coming from 10 years of cheap Logitech 2.1 land

It depends on your usage. If you are looking for tv and movie viewing in a smaller room a 3.1 setup with the bookshelfs, center, and sub would be a great setup. For PC usage I would pair the sub with the bookshelfs. If you have a larger room the sub is the weakest point of this setup, and I would go with a 5.0 setup with plans to add a better sub down the road.

For TV/Movies, I have the 2 bookshelves + center and a HSU sub. Pairs very well.

Ah so people like the center and sub more than the high rise speakers. That makes sense.

Those were great deals. Seems like the prices are back up to normal.

I did a little more research and the sub is the weakest part. The center is the best piece, followed by the bookshelf/floor standers depending on what you want. I love the floor standers, as I have them stood up on a shelf and they look/sound terrific. The book shelf, for me, are simply too big for surround and I returned those due to size.

What do you recommend for a receiver under $400? So many options :(

Edit: Home theater. Small room. 50" Samsung LED DLP connected to a dedicated computer with zoomplayer and wireless mouse.

Refurbished Denon units at the outlet are a good value. The AVR-E300 they have for $199 seems like a solid value for a basic, high quality 5.1 receiver. I personally like Yamaha units for bang for the buck on entry level systems and I especially like the YAPO system along those same lines. Denon has the same function which is called Audyssey I think.

Pissed I missed this sale :(

I have a 7.1 set using these speakers (BIC H100 sub, running Dolby Pro Logic IIz) but my rear speakers are TSC brand...would have loved to have finished the set.

Glad to read good things about the Lepai since I'm just learning these things. I've never been into audio stuff. Despite having a lot of music and movies collected I never bother with them. It started to dawn on me that one reason I ignore them is because things sound flat on my cheap 2.1 Logitechs that I always get on sale. This linked thread was helpful.

You can still get a decent discount from the Amazon Warehouse deals. Look through the Used tab.

A lot of you really dig these Pioneer speakers for the coin. I'm all set, but that complete package for $350.00 & change looks great deal for a 5.1 set-up for short money. I own a pair of Pioneer Marine speakers & they also do the trick on the cheap.

Thanks for the recommendations. Leaning towards the 2014 entry level Denon X series (not released yet) or Yamaha RX-A730. Accessories4less is out of stock for the Yamaha but the extra coin for a new unit might be worth the additional 2 years of warranty. Plan on making a trip to a store and finding out which of the AVR's GUI and remote pisses me off the most.

My brother swears by Fluance for $400 and under but almost every review says these specific Pioneer's are amazing for the money. Anyone have experience with both?

My Pioneers were delivered about an hour ago (Amazon Prime 2-day). These speakers are BIG! I had no idea. They don't fit in the corner area where my TV is set up. Might have to return them if I can't figure out a way to rearrange everything. Haven't listened to them, yet.

One does not simply say "speakers don't fit, i might return them" without listening to them first..

This one does. If they don't fit in the area I've designated for my TV viewing they're of no use to me regardless of how they might sound.

everytime this thread gets bumped i keep hoping that tge set went on sale again. for the past couple of weeks ive been looking for at least a 2.1 setup i skipped the psb sale thinking i want towers.

Look @ this Sewell T-AMP (50 WPC) for $50.00 & change. HUGE power & decent sound. That Lepai is kind of wimpy IMHO. Drives my PSB B4 speakers without a problem.

Looks good. I like the extras it comes with - and the length of cords. I'm actually a wimpy listener. No high volumes or steroidal music. Is the Sewell any better in first half of volume range? There's little in the way of reviews on the Sewell but one person said with volume full down they can still hear music etc. I still like the extras though. It also looks better made. Sears is selling one for $126.

I just got everything set up today. Running a Denon AVR-1513, 2 Yamaha NS-6490 3 way bookshelves in the front, the AJ/Pioneer Center, sub, and 2 bookshelves in the rear.

So far I really am pleased with my purchase. I'm still trying to get the volume and distance settings right on the receiver though as the rear bookshelves don't really seem that loud. I have them at +4dB right now and I'm still not sure it's enough.
