What would you do in this awesome GPU situation?

Was not sent by USPS, federal laws of unlawfully opening mail do not apply. That said, pretty sure this whole story of "12 magically appeared" is false.

DING DING DING! Very right! This story is FALSE!

Like I said in the first post. " This may be true, but may be a FAKE story"

A buddy of mine purchased these cards at a very cheap price! They are not all Titans.

Half are GTX 780's and the other half are GTX Titans.

As for the box. It is the correct length. And he only took one out, As you see in the 2nd pic, and in the 3rd pic. He put the package back in the box. And kept the card out.

There is a empty slot in the 2nd pic. And put the plastic back in the 3rd pic. That is all.

So. we were all curious to see what kind of replies we would get on here.

And! From the looks of it. Most of you guys would have Quad SLI setups if it did happen lol!

And! If I did get a Box of (12) Titans mailed to me. I would not be posting a thread on it!

I may post a thread about a NEW QUAD SLI TITAN SETUP I HAVE. BUT, not about getting 12 " FREE magical Titans" in the mail.

Cue the obvious response:
Oh! Wow! You got my package! However did it get THERE? I sure would appreciate it if you could forward it on to me, and you can have 2 of them as a "finder's fee", right? :D

I would return them because I'd feel guilty keeping it.

Anyways, I can't believe that FedEx would deliver a package with the address label all smudged out.

I have, though, experienced very poor customer service from FedEx where they lost my package and multiple managers do not return my call. Even the FedEx call centers say they will call you back and never do.

I'm going to call shens on this...

Something doesn't add up. 12 Titans in a box with ZERO commercial packaging or documentation, in bubblewrap and in perfectly sized cardboard cutouts in the shipping box.

That looks like a bulk shipment to an OEM/Reseller.

Very correct! This is a wholesale OEM bundle

It would be wrong to keep this box......whatever is inside.

In the AM I would contact FedEx and have them find the rightful owner.

Someone, somewhere is very upset.....and could be named "skullcrusher" or some such.
Like 6 foot 9 300 pounds of skullcrusher, and he and his friends could pay you a visit and break your kneecaps.:eek:

Anyway, more than two in unnecessary......maybe they would give you a couple for returning their package.:D

You can whole sale buy 6 GTX 780's and 6 GTX Titan's for rougly $4,700

So that is about $315 each per GTX 780.

And $490 each per GTX Titan.

And believe it or not! The wholesalers are making big money to. So, there is no telling how much it cost to build one of these cards.

Figured it wasn't true when I read it, but as for what I would do? I would return them..Die a little inside but return them anyhow.

FedEx has to have a record of who shipped it. I'd contact the company or person that shipped it and proceed from there.

What I would NOT do is expend any of my own money to ship it back. If I didn't order it, ask for it, etc. I am certainly not going to PAY to get it back where it goes.

Me: Yeah, you sent me 12 Titans and I didn't order them.
Them: Ok, just ship it back to us.
Me: Are you paying the shipping cost?
Them: No.
Me: Um, you just sent me 12 Titans and I didn't order them.

this seems odd! the package is a box full of cards without the companies boxes with manuals, what is these were stolen and deliver at that address on purpose and now the buyer is going to retrieve it? if there is no package slip then not sure how just got thru custom security....anyhow, keep 2 cards, sell the rest and move out lol.

Even if there's no text readable on the label, so long as the barcode scans, the driver has a name, address, and return address for the package on his little tablet computer-y thing. The delivery was never a mistake.. it was probably shipped to this dudes house because it required a signature (as most nearly $5k shipments do).

HAHAHAHAH!!!!!! THAT IS HILARIOUS!

Run 12x SLI Vantage onna SR-2?
1)bin them all
2)keep best 1-2
3) sell rest and get 2-3 comp builds :D

...just sayin'

OMG...please update the OP so the 90% of people who don't read past the 1st post stop offering their ethical choices & blitheness.

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK! A loud bang coming from the front door! "Who is it you say"?

It is "FedEx! I have a large package for you!

As you open the door, you are still very confused as to what this may be? I don't remember ordering anything... Or did I order something? maybe my wife did. Oh well.

Sign here.. OK! GREAT! "you sign the mobile computer, the fedex guy is holding. And walk inside.

The name and address on this box is smudged out and turn away.. You cannot see who it is from, or even who it is to. hmmmm this is strange you think!

Well let me open it up!

As the top flaps of the box open away! You notice something that made you just light up with excitement! IT CANT BE!! IT CANT BE! 12 of them!?

12 NVidia GTX Titans! And I don't know where they came from! It is a miracle!

WHAT WOULD YOU DO? SELL THEM? KEEP SOME OF THEM? GIVE ONE AWAY TO A FRIEND?

THIS COULD BE A TRUE STORY, BUT IT COULD BE A FAKE STORY.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO WITH ALL OF THESE BABIES?

Ummmmmm, where did that 13th Titan show up in the last picture you put on top of the other 12 Titans?

Guys, its called attention whoring... without even using reality! (i.e It's a fake story... cool conjecture as to what-if scenario discussions can ensue, sure, but... it's still a fake premise!)
So, Cool fake story Bro! Ok, now lets move along. ;)

From my knowledge of shipping and receiving it is generally customary to put a packing slip in the box. It would have the information you need to contact the vendor or even the manufacturer themselves and return them. It's honestly the right thing to do. That's just a little over $13k in that box you have there and I'm willing to bet were the tables turned you'd want whoever to return them to you or the rightful owner/buyer.

A mistaken delivery is yours to keep. Nvidia won't even notice unless they are anal retentive. Great b'day and xmas presents.

Picture one has 12 video cards in the box all in there crates and bubble wrapped..

Picture two shows the box with only 11 video cards, and a bubble wrapped titan on top. "There is a empty hole"

Picture 3 shows us putting the empty bubble wrap back in to the box and a unwrapped titan on top.

In picture 3, one of these 12 slots is a empty bubble wrap!

This has manged to confuse everyone lol.

These Video cards were purchased! And are not stolen, and they this is a "False story"

So its ok to keep stolen property? In the eyes of the law these cards are not his property. He could be subject to prosecution if he keeps these and doesn't report. 13K in stolen property is usually a felony + legal fees plus losing job due to criminal conviction.

Fake, but obviously, find the real owner and/or take them back to fedex... it just isn't worth the knowledge that you'll have 10 years from now like "I became a thief in 2014"... uck... integrity is worth more than 12k in the long run.

/edit.. I know a guy who was kicked out of the army with a dishonorable because he was buying 4 meg memory sticks for $350 and swapping out the chip for a 1 meg and returning the package. Think about it. What is a 4 meg chip worth now? I bet it is worth less than his having an honorable discharge right now... He had a young kid and a cute wife too. It was 20 years ago, but still. In a few years, those cards will NOT be $12k...

Well, you should contact Fedex, and they will be able to tell you where it came from.
And honestly, because of how fedex works, if the driver misdelivers a package it comes out of his paycheck. (Or at least that's what I was told).

If it was an error on part of the carrier and not the driver, then the driver doesn't get screwed, and they have insurance to cover this.
You may get a sternly worded letter from a legal department, but if it's delivered to you, it's a gift.

If it was an error on the part of the shipper, then legally they are yours to keep. Ethically, not so much.
I'd send them back and point to a titan-z as a reward :)

That's what I would do. On a related note I once had newegg ship two q6600's (i had ordered one), when I called them asking for them to send me
a shipping lablel, they told me to keep it.

Yea, getting in trouble is just not worth it! Court, charges, jail, more court, it is a ridiculous cycle. And never worth it in the end. Ive seen several people take something of only a couple hundred bucks in value, and easily spend over $2,000 in legal fee's not to mention the hassle, supervise probation, or going to jail! Plus, you cannot get a job with a criminal record, unless you are lucky enough to find a employer who doesn't do a back ground check! Which is about 1 out 35 places nowadays id say

I got in trouble when I was 16 years old. I took 60 bucks from my work with the intent to replace it later that day! it didn't work out like I planned. And, in NorthCarolina it is a Felony to take even 1 penny from a employer! So! Yes what a nightmare. I am 24 years old now with 2 kids, and married. Luckily this has long fallen off my back ground, and It doesn't bother me anymore. But, still.. It is never worth it.

I never took anything again after that.....

Play it safe. There are always 2 roads, take the one that lets you go home and go to sleep in your bed at night.

WOW! Really? They told you to keep it? How much did the CPU cost at the time of purchase?

This is the fakest thing I have seen all week. There is in fact ONE titan in the picture, the rest are "unidentified objects" and the pictures were carefully taken as to misdirect the viewer. I like how the Titan was placed in the middle as to not show whats really inside the bubble wrap...until ALL 12 Titan's are pictured clearly this is NOT what the OP claims it to be, plain and simple.

Cool tall tale though ")

fail on so many levels. shame on you [H] for posting this on the homepage. shame.

why not contact nvidia directly?

They should be able trace the serial numbers and find the owner.

Having some familiarity with the relevant property laws is helpful.

Attempt to find the owner, if that proves to be impossible the cards then belong to the receiver.

I would not in any circumstances hand them back to the freight company without the say so of the rightful owner lest I would be sued for releasing them to someone who wasn't the rightful owner and therefore be liable for the value of the package.

Did you hear the knocking???

Who is it you ask? It is temptation.

lol, but seriously that is pretty amazing. Of course you have to put in some effort to find the rightful owner, but I would have to bench a few of those bad boys as i've always wanted one. Maybe just OC them all incase the owner decides to give you one??

I'm pretty sure I would be waiting anxiously the next day to see what FEDEX brought me tomorrow

I would buy a packet of MLP stickers (in disguise) and stick it on the cards and box and return it to fedex. I would sleep soundly knowing somewhere someone got extremely confused...

Try and find out the shipper and let them know of the mistake. If that fails feel free to send me one :)
