LG 55" 4K 3D Smart TV - 55LA9650 - $1099 - Microcenter

Thanks for reminding me about how sad I was when the Microcenter in Santa Clara, CA closed.

I haven't noticed any lag (yet) while watching cable tv (Google Fiber). No plans to game with it. I got it as a replacement for my wife's old Samsung 46" 1080p 60Hz LED model.

The 4k and 240hz is such a big improvement over her old tv that my wife thought she was watching Real Housewives of New York City in no-glasses 3D.

Is your content actually delivered in 4K or is it upscaled 1080p?

I can't really imagine that Real Housewives was filmed in 4K. I can imagine that upscaling softens edges considerably.

It's upscaled of course. I don't think Google Fiber TV delivers anything in 4k.

Wow that lag is high! I'm glad prices are coming down on 4K but I'm guessing the tech has some time before it'll be monitor ready.

I had to return mine due to it being a piece of crap. White backgrounds aren't completely white. It looks very dirty-ish. I rather wait for the Vizio P instead. Dat full-array doe.

Since I don't even have a game system hooked up to it, the only evidence of 90+ms lag I could imagine seeing is maybe audio and video being out of sync. I suppose another possible example would be lag when queuing 4k youtube videos from a paired device and being able to watch on both the device and tv at the same time.

Lag never was and probably won't be a concern though because I have no plans to do any gaming on it.

He has Google Fiber AND Microcenter.

Fuck.

That's the only thing Kansas ever did right.. we have MC and Google fiber :D

On the flip side of the coin we keep trying to disprove evolution and we're the state that brought you Fred Phelps

I have zero interest in 4k until there is widespread 4k content. 240hz and local LED dimming is way more important to an amount of pixels I can never actually fill without shitty upscaling.

I hear ya, with amazon prime only supporting supper compressed 720p I think It will be a while before I need to upgrade. And for that to get better I'll need fiber instead of DSL.

Why would anyone buy this? Eternal upscaling, no thanks.

I wake up and praise Zoltar for that every morning too.

Fortunately I live on the Missouri side of the state line. :)

$1099, 240Hz, 4k, 3D, smart tv, 55". Find me a better 55" smart tv for $1099. Bonus points if you find one I can buy at MC or BB with 0% financing.

Okay guys. Just picked this up, after watching a few shows. It is great!

I have it running of my GTX 680 @ 4k & 30hz. I turned off the smooth motion, every other setting is default.

Picture is smooth, content looks great. Up-scaled 1080p is on par with other 1080p options.

No complaints really. Thanks for the heads up!

edit: 1080p @ 60hz is smooth as butter too... trying to find out if it supports 1080p @ 120hz currently.

It makes a fantastic monitor if you're not gaming on it. There just really is no other way to get that much real estate on a single screen currently. A full quadruple the number of windows you're currently looking at all in one clean, unbroken display.

Not a bad deal but it's an LG, how does it compare to Panasonic's VIERA smart TVs?

Not so sure about that mate, at that resolution its only 30hz, the cursor isn't smooth across the screen...

Games which look amazing:

Skyrim w/ 4k textures.
Splinter cell blacklist
assassins creed.
START CITIZEN looks massive. It's incredible.
Anything on xbox one thats for the PC. is just 10x better.

FPS games, or starcraft, anything that needs a mouse & keyboard I wouldn't recommend.

Halo is a bit hard, screen is too big.

For $1000 can you really compare it? It upscales 1080p to look on-par with other 1080p options. It's IPS edgelit. It doesn't have backlight bleed, however it is noticeable when the backlight is on.

couldn't be helped. every asshole and his mother or rather every desi asshole and his mother, went down the street to shop at fry's instead.

I imagine this tv will be fine for console gaming. I have the 1080p high end version and it's great.

This is awesome! Passive 3d pretty much demands 4K. No more visible interlace or ghosting, finally getting the full vertical image.. good stuff.

3D at home isn't a fad! You're all just cheap bastards :p

<3 my 3d tv
