Hi guys,

I look after a school's IT setup and am looking to start moving from a pile of tower servers to an "all in one" type setup.

At the moment I'm looking for a sort of "rack on wheels" that will hold x1 switch, x1 UPS and I'm thinking x2 2U servers preferably with a U or two to spare. Has anyone got anything in mind? Obviously I'm not after a full height one but more table height, all the better if I can purchase it in the UK...

Many thanks :)

I have a similar one made by StarTech. Not sure if that is available in the UK or not.

You want a half cabinet. They're less common but still available. Keep an eye on local used classifieds.

I use one at home right now but it is almost full

I have used Dells rolling 24U racks. Great for small spaces, has doors and sides that can be locked or removed. 24U is a good size.

Maybe I'm spoiled, but I don't touch off brand racks. You loose too many features, especially if you're going to stick the rack some place where cooling and airflow are issues. Plus I love using 0U pdu's ;)

Our datacenter uses APC racks and I've used Triplite racks before... both have their pros and cons. As a server guy, it would depend on the server brands, because dell servers in dell racks are slightly nicer than dell servers in generic APC racks. but 0u pdus are nice and having areas to run cables are really nice. Figure out how many Us you need and find the most cost effective and make sure to account for growth and cable trays to run cables. i've sourced them from local auctions and business closures and ebay

Head over to your local audio supplies store (sam goody, sam ash, etc...) they have racks on wheels
