Hard Drive for HP Onboard Raid

A new client called me with SSD in Raid on a microserver. The previous tech purchased 2 SSD in Raid1 and 2 2TB in Raid 1. They are not drives from HP. The solid state drives keep dropping out of the array so I suggested we use raid specific drives.

I was thinking Seagate Constellations. Are these good for onboard raid? I didn't see any other raid specific drives besides these and WD.

I would look for enterprise SSDs. If the client already has SSDs they most likely will not want to go back to spinners of any kind.

Enterprise drives are raid specific. Every manufacturer has either enterprise or at least raid edition drives.

That is strange. Are they from Intel, Crucial or Samsung?

What RAID controller are they using? Is this motherboard RAID or a HBA? Do they have logs showing the drops? Are the drives reporting anything in the SMART data? What brand are the SSDs, their capacity and current firmware levels (each of them)?

The drives are kingstons. It's only used for the os. This is motherboard raid.

How are Seagate constellations?

No errors ib the hp array manager. Just the drive failed the client putt a new ssd in and it's set for queue to rebuild and it doesn't go past.

I would like to just set up raid 10 with enterprise drives and get rid of the consumer stuff. I will restore the server with image backup.

The Seagate constellations v seem to be best bang.
