Benq BL3200PT (32" 1440p)

Tried PixPerAn readability test - could read up to speed 8. Changing overdrive setting had visible effect on the scrolling text, but it didn't really make it more readable than the default (High).

One question about OC refresh rate, Milkovic :
Did you notice some changed colors / brightness / contrast / after OC the refresh rate ?
I did on my BenQ GW2760HS, and i couldn't find a solution for that. Colors ( especially blue - light ) looks a bit different with 75Hz

No, I didn't notice any change.
Just for your info, monitor is connected with displayport cable and OC with Nvidia control panel.

Now the billion dollar question:
Is it worth it to OC to 75Hz with a light frame drop, if you like to match it with 75/80fps for the VSync?

How did you OC with Nvidia control panel ?!

Open: Nvidia Control Panel > Select: Change Resolution > Select: Customize > Select: Create Custom Resolution > and then is up to you...

i have it set up now at home, adjusted the colors to my liking and testing games.

dunno if it's the sheer size (coming from a U2913WM) or response time or something, i'm not comfortable playing games on this screen (yet). have to give this more time.

dunno.....it's when things move fast on the screen, it seems like the blur is pretty severe. i'm using AMA high (default). maybe it's just my perception.....going to re plug the U2913WM later to cross test.

So the original report of 75Hz no frame dropping weren't correct? If it's only 66Hz or so, not that big of a boon. 23ms input lag and slow pixels makes for a productivity screen, not for gaming. Anyone get any MPRT numbers on it?

Until properly proven otherwise, they are correct. The second overclocker did not read the instructions and take a proper picture to check for frame skipping. No multi-input 1440p+ has been able to overclock without dropping frames.

-----

Visual Test: Download PixPerAn and watch the car stutter/skip across the screen on monitors which drop frames when oc'd. If PixPerAn forces 60hz, read the instructions and download CRU to force 75hz.

mine only goes to 73Hz max, and skips frames there. can't be arsed to play around with a couple of Hz :)

The Elder Scroll Online (pic from cellphone)

I'm glad u like your monitor...IMO though the colors are quite washed out..unless its your cellphone camera? I play this game alot and its pretty washed out..IMO compared to my Korean 1440p...

Milkovic, how is your gaming experience on this monitor? Any ghosting/blur/streaks? Is the input lag noticeable?

*sigh* - i don't know what to do.... my feeling tells my "buy this great monitor for only 556€ - now!" and my brain tells me "are you complete crazy? you own the BL2710PT and you are happy with it. What do you want with a 32" tft with a seat pitch about 70cm?"

Color are not as deep as my previous glossy screen LGUM95 but I really like them, tonite I'll post a screenshot, this as cellphone quick pic.

In the first report I didn't test the frame dropping with the camera, I've just taken for good the UFO's message: VALID.

My bad. :(

I've always liked to play games on big (and unfortunately slow) monitor (Dell U3011, HP ZR30) rather than fast 1080p 120hz (Asus VG278H), so I'm really happy with this one.

I can tell that is just a little less responsive than my previous Samsung S27B970D (very low input lag) but still very enjoyable and no difference compared to the LG 34UM95.
I didn't really notice any ghosting/blur/streaks.

Tonite I'll try a deep game session and with a new Displayport cable:

Ok great! I too bought the lg 34um95 but I sent it back..I didnt like the blacks in the corners...so much glow? Greyish... I cant wait to see your pics!

Thanks for the reply man. Can't wait to receive mine! Sucks that the delivery time of my monitor was upped to 10+ days now. Seems these displays are in high demand and selling fast.

In the meantime, I'm waiting for the LinusTechTips review of this monitor. He's apparently reviewing it now. He earlier reviewed the LG 34UM95 so I hope he has some comments on how the monitors compare.

Since you play TESO, and you tried the LG, did you experienced oversatured color in that game with the 34UM95?

I did at first..but I changed the preset to cinema and it made a difference..One thing though...at first MY pc didn't put the right driver with its icc profile...I went in and changed it..made a HUGE difference in color..but it was the price/glow in the bottom right corner that did it in. If this monitor was 599 or so..Id have kept it..I still want a new monitor..The benq size seems awesome..i just know that last year I bought one of those benq 27 1ms 120hz...worst color ever. Everything was totally washed out...anyhow..look me up on ESO..Dekeon

If it's was 1ms it was a TN panel, that's why the colors were washed out compared to what you are use too. You shouldn't see anything like that on a VA or IPS panel.

Nope, it's an 100% sRGB AMVA+ panel. Some sources say 10-bit, some sources say 8-bit+FRC.

It's not out in many places yet. A couple of places in Europe (Germany mostly) have it in stock, and I think Amazon in the US does, but the price is still a bit inflated.

TFT Central have an extremely thorough review up, they're about the only ones. Linus should have a review up in the next few days.

@ Daedalus
Yep those babies became largely available here in Germany only 2 days ago.
Ordered mine for 555€ yesterday, should arrive here on saturday or monday. :)

Meanwhile, can someone who already has it, please measure the display horizontally and vertically (only the display area without the bezel)? Would like to know how big the visible area actually is. (preferably in cm ;) )

You can do that yourself actually. 32 / 18.4, x 16 (horizonal) x9 (vertical). Throw those numbers into Google to convert from inches to centimetres.

Prices have inflated. BH photo had it for 699 and now its 767. The egg inflated from 699 to 720, no big deal, but its been out of stock for a week. Amazon was 703 and now its up to 752.

This is not up in the air anymore. It's 8-bit+FRC. If you read the tftcentral review you can see that the gamut coverage for ARGB is what you'd expect for an 8-bit panel. 80% or so. Also they just come right out and say it's a standard gamut display.

I bought last Friday from TigerDirect for 699 no taxes no shipping.
But it's out of stock now.

so....i'm slowly getting used to it (size-wise). the performance seems good enough (not worse than the U2913WM anyway).

picture quality is top notch, but i have a problem....there are two lighter vertical stripes on the screen, approx. in one and two thirds of it. they are only visible in grey-ish tones (such as fog in a game) and when the picture is moving, i.e. scrolling background in diablo 3. it's very annoying and i always look there now lol. i'll give it time over the weekend, maybe they'll disappear and maybe i will get used to them. i really want to keep the screen, because other than that, i love it :)

and here's a couple of pics (potato camera), some are really shitty, since it's completely dark here :)

Well, they say it's 10-bit:

"According to the detailed panel spec sheet this is done with a 10-bit colour depth as there's no mention of Frame Rate Control (FRC). This gives a colour depth support for 1.07 billion colours. However, you need to take into account whether this is practically useable and whether you're ever going to truly use that colour depth. You need to have a full 10-bit end to end workflow to take advantage of it which is still quite expensive to achieve and rare in the market, certainly for your average user. This includes relevant applications and graphics cards as well, so to many people this 10-bit support might be irrelevant."

Besides, can't a standard gamut panel be 10-bit? Color depth and color space aren't the same, right? Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't color space about maximum possible colors and color depth about maximum simultaneous colors?
