Since you're spending that much I think you should look into some other options to compare as well, such as the Fujitsu Q704.

Thanks, I did not know about Q704, but I am not hip on the form factor.
It has the wacom stylus & 1920x1080 tho...

Similar config = $2,750
WIN7PRO(64-BIT)
CORE i7-4600U (4 MBcache, 3.3 GHz)
8GB DDR3 1600 mhz RAM
256GB SSD
DOCK
BATT,65W - can't find owner videos

2400 is wayyyyyy too much for that laptop.

I agree, but it's the best I found with a wacom digitizer & 1920x1080
Plus it has an i7, 4MB Cache, 3.30GHz
8GB DDR3 1600 mhz RAM
240GB Solid State Drive, Serial ATA3 Opal
Battery reports: 7.5 hours easy, 4.5 hours torture testing

I read some forums & it sounds like any "ghosting" issues can be checked / tested / recreated & replaced if discovered via user testing within the first 30 days.

I'm pretty much sold on the form factor!

I just wanted to check for any horror stories OR fanatical love...

Been looking at this machine myself with the same options. I really like the convertible design.

Aren't you that WINDOZE evangelist / tablet defender / surface pro fanatic?

:D

J/K & glad you showed up!
Really glad you have an interest in this thing too...
Is it the stylus that interests you or just the flippin' form factor?

PS: interesting stuff here...

LOL! I like having the rep.;)

One way you can tell if a device like this is worth having is the post count on this forum and its sister site TabletPCReview.com. Doesn't mean it's perfect but high interest on those two forums means the device is solid. Just a personal observation.

I'm still rocking an Lenovo x220t from 2011 and have been very pleased with it and so this device is on my list because of that and yes, convertible and Wacom pen are a must for me so the list get's short because of those requirements. The Surface Pro 2 is a great device, I've played around with them in stores but the screen size just doesn't work for me as laptop.

Did they solve the screen retention issue yet? That's what prevented me from buying one when they first came out...

For $2400, I rather get a Fujitsu T904 with 2560x1440 13" screen. If you spec the Fujitsu T904 like the Thinkpad Yoga, its going to cost a bit more. However, the pre-configured unit with i5 and 8GB ram is only $2k.

Looks like you are spending $1200 for the stylus and digitizer with those specs. Not even 16GB RAM for $2400 .... ouch....

I read that they have, but you have to order from Lenovo or risk getting the old version that may be stocked elsewhere & risk getting the ghosting version...

I still haven't pulled the trigger on this, because U-joints & ball-joints just cost me some cash :(

I also saw the Transformer V (no stylus)

I won't play the waiting game to see how that new Transformer V works, but still = no stylus.

Anyway, I wanted to address a few comments above...

I am looking at the other options like VW's vs. BMW
You can get a VW with similar "numbers" to a BMW for less money, but it's not a BMW.

What I want most is the form factor / hinge system + the reputation for quality that a Thinkpad has.
Next is the fact that it is 1920x1080 which would be most compatible w/ my surroundings.
Next is the stylus... it's a WACOM & gets great reviews...

I had the twist Toshiba 3500 XP back in the day for a tablet & loved it.
It was a great tool, but it was big & heavy (yeah, it was old) and now I want a better tool.

I hope to order this before July 4, 2014.

Does anybody have one of these yet?

Well the surface pro 3 has been announced. I would get the i7 version with Intel hd5000. The only thing that would be lacking is the keyboard. You can always get a Bluetooth keyboard for a dedicated typing at your desk/office.

I tried my buddies surface, the kickstand still sux for how I need to use it, and I have an iPad 1 with Bluetooth KB that has a little plastic easel built in, that I don't like either.

Thanks though, it helped me realize my use will be mostly like 60% laptop mode, 25% stylus mode, 15% tablet mode...
