Apple Buying Beats For $3.2B?

beats and apple are garbage, they go to together imo!

no but honestly, Beats really are rubbish. Anyone who owns them needs a smack in the back of the head. "but they have bazzz".....

I see stupid kids with just the headphones, plugged into nothing, listening to nothing.

I'll keep my AKGs. They may be huge, and they may have a self-tensioning spring system sitting over my head, but I haven't heard anything much better. Very flat response, which means... I can color my music if I feel like it, or listen to it how it was created. Wooo!!!

Stop giving them ideas; they'll corner the market on hipster!

Being someone who lives and works near Portland I generally don't see hipsters using Beats. It's mostly early to middle teens or specific ethnic groups.

I can only imagine the marketing blitz that Apple will lay on. I mean, they already had dancing silhouettes in their ads, now they'll come up with some catchy i-name for the thing as well and announce that music has been redefined. Only on Apple.

Beats are a fad.

Just wait until Lebron starts wearing something else.

I hope that's not why they are wearing them. "King James" has all the charisma and personality of a banana slug. Michael Jordan he is not.

Google says 550 mil as of 2014.

What would you say tops Chronic 2001?

If you're talking Dre albums... Eazy-Duz-It and No One Can Do It Better. Of all time, Eric B and Rakim Follow the Leader.

MJ is the best of my generation but the kiddos like Lebron and that Coopernick kid.

Cool. Maybe now we'll get a new product line from Apple. iBeats by Chris Brown sounds good to me.

Then we're also going to need the iClock by Flavor Flave!!

Oh, and I want a gold rope to connect my headphones to the 3.5mm plug.

Design over substance, marked up 300x due to the brand name? Honestly, this sounds like a match made in heaven.

The next move is to buy Fiat, rebrand the 500 the iCar, and sell it for $125,000 each.

I thought Fiat was a budget vehicle? The ones I've driven always felt cheap...

A marriage made in heaven.

Style over substance Apple buys style over substance Beats.

They are made for each other!

The why is rather simple here. Beats holds an estimated 60-65% of the total US headphones market. And the brand recognition is huge. When's the last time you've seen a famous athlete or whatever sporting a pair of Senns/Beyers/Grados in pre-game warm ups.

I personally prefer Sennheiser or Beyer Dynamics cans, but I think Apple actually made a very smart move here from a profitability standpoint.

I've tried Beats earbuds, and sadly, a $20 pair of JVC earbuds from Walmart sound better.
I once tried to put Beats software on my HTC EVO and it made everything so freaking distorted, I flashed a clean rom over it just to get rid of it.
Hell, my buddy got a HTC with Beats built in, he couldn't stand the sound, we flashed him a clean rom with Viper Audio and he thought it sounded 100x better.
Its sad to say, but a laptop with Altec Lansing speakers sounds better than one with Beats.
But..
Dre markets Beats so people line up in droves to buy them.

I wouldn't use them, but I do see them EVERYWHERE. Someone's buying them...

The same way WhatsApp is worth $20Bn...and FacePlant stock is worth anything at all.

Like I said. Tone deaf hipsters.

So you'd have an overpriced laptop with overpriced cheap-sounding speakers for idiots who have no idea what music should sound like, as they have grown up thinking that albums should be mastered as loud as possible.

Sounds like a perfect match of gullibility and idiocy.

Should be a good marriage, overpriced technology, with overpriced headphones:D

Yeah, anyone who knows anything about audio technology knows you can manually edit the EQ on the stereo receiver or digitally in the application (Windows -- recommend Foobar2000).

I would take JVC HARX or low end Sony MDRs any day of the week ending in 'day'.

Can't edit but my Beyerdynamics DT-150s are used as my main listening device and simple mixing.

Expensive but durable as a brick shithouse.

what is brown and rhymes with snoop ? A: Dr. Dre
