AMD Radeon R9 295X2 Video Card Review @ [H]

and nearly 30% less die space if you combine both GPU's

Edit : 30% =p

And that doesn't even matter one bit :) Especially not when you factor in real world compute throughput (if you're into using GPGPU functionalities). I mean unless you're concerned over Power Draw, which ironically AMD and nVIDIA fans only happen to concern themselves with Power Draw the moment their preferred brands products are those taking less power. Its an odd phenomenon called "Hypocrisy" and it tends to affect many many people who become "fans" of a particular Corporation's products.

This is the release driver for the 295X2 that has been reviewed in many places on the web. It is notable for being the first review that features Mantle in BF4 along with Eyefinity and Crossfire, which has previously been unplayable on my system.

Does anyone know if there are specific fixes for this configuration contained in these drivers?

There must be a NDA in force, because there have been no clarifying responses to my queries on this thus far....

You can get the driver, in question, HERE
A direct link is available HERE.

Im considering one of these cards.

I need some info about this 28a requirement per connector.

"AMD’s official system requirements for the R9 295X2 call for a PSU that can deliver 28A per 8pin PCIe power connector, with a combined amperage of 50A."

Does this mean that it needs 28A per 12v rail?

My current Psu is Silverstone Strider 1500w,Max 25A per 12v Rail

Can anyone clarify this?

Why?

295X2 = 1300 euro
Total 1300 euro

2x 290X = 850 euro
Water cooling set = 550 euro
Total 1400 euro

For that you get back a far more superior mostly reusable cooling system, inc CPU cooling.

The 295X2 is a real cutting edge cart, that borders on what they can do, two loos 290X's are properly more reliable, or at least more flexible to sell with its waterblocks and still new air cooling.

Does this mean that it needs 28A per 12v rail?
No it just means you need to use a separate rails for each connector.

Not me.
I don't have a death wish. O_O

^ Unfortunately, according to Tom's latest arricle, it's pretty useless.

Quad setups are a big gamble in general. I would be happy to recoup the costs of your wasted purchase for 1k ;)

Actually, it's once again, Tom's that proves to be "pretty useless". Honestly, I don't know why anyone would ever put any credence into Tom's. Especially on [H], where after reading the content here, they should know better.

I was randomly surfing and caught a mention of microstutter being a problem with two 295x2 cards, but it may have been a mistranslation by Google Translate and they may have been saying that microstutter was not a problem.

Not to defend Tom's, but other than BF4, different games were tested.
