Thinking of making a parody Twitter account mocking the mayor of your town? You might want to read this first. I'm a little disappointed they didn't use a swat team though.

Police searched a West Bluff house Tuesday and seized phones and computers in an effort to unmask the author of a parody Twitter account that purported to be Mayor Jim Ardis. The account — known as @Peoriamayor already had been suspended for several weeks when up to seven plainclothes police officers executed a search warrant about 5:20 p.m. at 1220 N. University St.

Not a second thought to it! Hell, I'd love to have a lawsuit like that about to be filed. When it's all said and done that man is going to have a lot more in the bank.

No parody allowed or we'll thrown a little North Korea tactics at ya!

Yup I'll bet he's getting a ton of calls from layers trying to represent him and start the lawsuit.

Funny, I get some prick threading my life ( and my families) over a video game. He finds my real name due to a policy change at photobucket and proceeds to to harass me.
I give his name, IP, and copy of our server logs to ISP, local LEO and nothing.

No biggie, he didn't find my address and frankly I wouldn't mind if he showed up........He backed off after a week of some 1%er friends of mine knocking on his door ALL hours of the day and night asking if Sym was available. Funny he didn't say boo to Bear, Boogie, Critter, or hell even Boo.....no one cross word. I would have gone in person, but hell he's in San Jose and I'm in Saint Petersburg. And I figured he could use the company of some real stand up guys. Haven't heard a thing since.
No one knows your a dog on the internet!

Doubtful, as I think the government has laws in place to greatly limit how much you can sue them for, not to mention the judge will probably side with his buddy.

Its fully acknowledged as a parody, 'government' should lose, its not impersonating any government official.
This is a bit crazy, I will remember this when our media is making fun about this kind of situation in other 'less' free countries.

I think some people are getting confused. This is local city government. It's a municipality.

I just read through the original request for a search warrant, which the Judge signed off on..It was so vague that I almost think they only did it because they thought they could score some free drugs..Seriously though read it yourself here.
