A pair of these and a Rokit 10 sub brought the cops to my door a few years ago :)

Note these are studio monitors. They produce practically zero bass. The sound output is as flat as it can be. They must be matched up with a good sub for good sound.

I ran Stereo mini-jack to the sub, then XLR's to the monitors. Makes it easy to put them wherever you want.

Paired with a good sub, the sound is pretty darned awesome.

And I paid twice as much for mine.

How are these? I had KRK Rokit 5's then downgraded to Maudio AV40's and I ended up returning them I was so disappointed.

I preferred them to the Rokit 5's when I was shopping them at Guitar Center.

I prefer them to the Rockit 5's as well. Cleaner mids it seemed... I now use Mackie HR824's though ;)

MV40s ... don't even get me started.

MV40's are baby steps that are very very VERY quickly out grown. I couldn't say enough bad things about those over priced toy speakers.

anyways

I rock KRK G2 8's and a KRK 10S sub. ... yeah, beautiful power sound

if you are starting out, these are very nice for the price but you'll upgrade down the road.

I have a pair of krk g1 8"s and the 10s sub, and they for that price sounded great.

edit.. original deal looks dead.. they are 149$ each now. =(

Meh, don't get me started. Either rock some of these...

My speakers

and one or two of these...

My sub

or GTFO :D

In all seriousness though. There are more non-audiophiles here than audiophiles. These are good starter speakers, but again once you get a taste of good audio you will get sucked into finding reasons to upgrade down the road :)
