Super Smash Bros Wii U

This game and Mario Kart are probably the only real reasons I own a Wii U. Assuming both aren't major disappointments, I'm sure I'll get my money's worth, too.

They will be good but there are other great games

If you haven't played wonderful 101,suoer Mario 3d world and donkey Kong country tropical freeze your missing out. My Wii u is almost always on between those games Wii games I never finished and the virtual console. Of the 3 new systems it has by far the most to play right now.

Edit
You have got to watch the Eshop for sales I grabbed resident evil revelations a while back it was only 19.99

Super smash brothers = random mash buttons

I never understood why people enjoyed playing that game

I can't wait to watch the competitive community get totally disappointed with how this game will STILL not be a replacement for the golden standard for the competitive scene.

But I'm also looking forward to the game sarcasm aside.

Technically you can play any fighting game like that - Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Tekken, etc.
There's a lot more out there if you want to take advantage...or you can play by mashing buttons if you want. If it was just mashing, the same players wouldn't keep winning tournaments.

This is the reason I own a Wii U. Well this and Mario kart. Fortunately along the way I have gotten some other excellent Wii U titles as well..

Really looking forward to the Wii U version but with the 3ds version out in the summer time; at least it can hold us over until the winter release.

Will this game be balanced?

If I would have to guess and judge from the Nintendo Direct after flashy Brawl I believe they have taken balance into consideration this time. They even made a multiplayer mode strictly for competitive playing with all random elements removed plus flying characters unfair recovery abilities are now nerfed.

Yar, that 'For Glory' mode seems like it'd be excellent for competitive/balance play, and that 'For Fun' mode would be more flashy gameplay.

It's nice to see how much content for both hardcore and casual fans Nintendo is putting into this title.

On paper the game should be terrific. The devs sound very serious about making the game fun while still being competitive.
Godmachine is right that the serious people might not be happy with it...no matter what. I think that's the nature of any successful franchise, though. For a long time there were Street Fighter holdouts that wouldn't play Alpha or 3 for the same reasons.
They've even gone so far as to make pseudo bootleg HD patched versions of Melee.

I actually have Donkey Kong enjoyable game but very frustrating at times especially when trying to get all the puzzle pieces, im basically going to beat the game and eventually go back for the extras lol

What? I'd like to know more about this.

I was checking out the trailer for the 3DS version, and I swear it almost looks like the characters are 2D sprites...

I mean, I guess it runs at 60 FPS which is cool for a handheld, but I was not impressed at all with it graphically.

I can't really hunt for links on my work PC (gaming-wise), but there's a version of Brawl for people with modded systems (and emulators I guess) that essentially mirrors the gameplay from Melee. It upgrades the graphics, includes new arena options, and even rebalances the characters. The people behind it put in a lot of work from what I can tell.

Edit: - Looks like I can get to Kotaku: http://kotaku.com/how-to-play-project-m-the-best-smash-bros-mod-around-1480425952

It's called Project M, downloading the bootleg is the easiest way to get it but technically illegal if you don't already own the game. It also includes Mewtwo and Roy and runs at a fairly brisk 60 fps on Dolphin with a decent computer with HD textures except I experience slowdowns on Skyloft, Delfino Plaza and Shadow Moses Island and I experience slowdowns when running with more then 1 cpu at any point in time due to Dolphin being very CPU intensive. You can watch some game-play here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIxskj3UFV0

Project M Is fantastic btw but it looks like Smash Brothers U will be a much prettier and better game then even Project M. I'll probably pick it up along with a WiiU at some point in time, who knows maybe they will even bundle them together?

I believe the decision for the outline was to make the characters more identifiable on the smaller screen. I do agree that it's not my most preferred look either.

No. My son will still kick my ass no matter which character I pick, he's always stronger and better. :p

Smash Bros. is always a great game. A good game for playing with other people and laughing and having a good time. Like Mario Kart, it's one that's good, friendly competition (that sometimes gets a lot of trash talk!). It's not too goal oriented, like other games (story line is nill), but it's just one you can have fun with friends whenever. Just a nice pick it up, play and have a good time from the first minutes, kind of game.

All these great new WiiU releases is getting me closer to buying one...
