joke or no, I'm betting it's not out of the question in the near future for it to be a real product.

This needs to be a real thing, hoping tomorrow they list an update on a real thing!
 
I and I am sure many others thought of this idea many years ago. The tech exists today to make it happen.

I race cars as an amateur and thought about having a drone constantly point its camera toward me as I go around the track, occasionally moving to different regions of the track while still maintaining camera focus on my car... Shouldn't be impossible to do...today. It could be used in all sort of events in the same fashion. No manual guidance needed except for getting even better in frame shots, but even that could be addressed with the right hardware and software e.g. a gyro-stabilized gimbal system makes sure the camera is constantly focused on a specific target regardless of the speed, motions, pitch angle etc of the drone... Using some image recognition software it could even get perfectly framed shots...

Oh of course there are legal and logistical issues with this of course but still doable...
 
The real april fools joke is Razor as an april fools joke tried to pass this off as a quality product from Razor =)
 
That quadcopter does kind of exist. It looks very close to the Hubsan x4. Its cheap.. and fun to fly. Even has an xbox sized controller, 6 axis stabilization (3 gyro and 3 accelerometers) 2.4ghz controlls, flown inside and outside. Can get them from amazon for around 50 delivered. 60 with a camera. 40 if you order from china and have patience :)
