My desk area... nice but not quite as nice as some others in this thread :)

@Armenius

I am pretty new at the Fanatec stuff , started getting the components about Xmas time...I would recommend the leap to anyone who likes to drive
(sorry 'bout the off topic post - this is why it's a "work station")

@peek - I LOVE that wallpaper. Very clean.

@Killahurtz - glad to see someone else playing Asseto Corsa! Excellent game.

I just dont have the space for three monitors right now.

Off-topic - Does anyone in the Houston area know of a place I could get some decent PC powdercoating done? Im thinking of painting the inside of FT02 chassis pure white, swapping the 3 intakes fans with AP182's. Also the some opnions on some solid white 120's to replace the Rad fans on the H80i. I'll get to work on a mockup and get some more feedback.

Killa... damn now that's a frickin cockpit. :D

p33k - nice and clean - love it.
Where are you peeps getting these nice multi-screen backgrounds?

Man looking at all these sweet rigs makes me think it must be nice to be rich. I am a married homeowner so obviously I have zero dollars to spend on stuff like this.

So am I. I've spent the last several years paying down my debt so that I could spend money on stuff like this. About half a decade of eating out once a month or less, driving to work and back and nowhere else, not seeing any movies until they hit redbox or netflix, no cable TV, dressing in double layers during the winter, no A/C in summer, and powering down all of my electronics when they aren't in use.

you left out that part where you lived in a van on an ihop parking lot for 6 months. ;)

I have finally updated my workstation with a new monitor and a new rig. I still have to clean up the cables and make some custom wiring for the hard drives.

Is that a concrete desktop?
Yes it is. The legs are welded 2.5 inch angle iron and the top is poured concrete reinforced with rebar and steel mesh. The top weighs about 300 pounds. I've been meaning to experiment with some different mixes to try to bring the weight down.

Finally some pics of my gear after coming here for 9 years. Excuse the cell phone pictures.

Main PC
I plan to sell the TV I'm using as a monitor and replace it with an Acer 27". The barely visible machine to the lower right is my file server.

HTPC
Using some computer speakers until I get around to getting a new receiver. Still need to do some cable management.

Arcade
I use this one to play vertically-oriented games. Mostly shoot-em-ups like Raiden, Galaga, Dodonpachi, but also the Pac-Man games, Dig Dug, Donkey Kong, Qbert, etc.
(To the lower left is a clearer pic of my file server)

Here some shots of Dodonpachi and Raiden IV

You must be a civil engineer. Do you have any methods of more air entrainment? It's gotta be possible... You can get the density down enough that it would float (we made concrete canoes one year). I would never have had this idea though, awesome work.

If I hadn't come to the conclusion I just mentioned, I would have said something like "I don't know if I'd be comfortable with 300lbs of concrete sitting above my junk all day..." Actually, I still wouldn't

Thanks for the compliments:cool:

The arcade rig actually was my main PC until I upgraded last week. I had a dual monitor setup with the rotated monitor and the TV and I edited the ini files in MAME to open vertical games on the TATE'd monitor. I got sick of disabling/disconnecting the TV every time I wanted to play a Sega Naomi or Taito Type X game as they don't support more than one monitor at a time so I decided to dedicated it to games that support TATE mode.

hah , nice :D

Im loving the way this looks, what did you use for the backlight? Im assuming just some sort of white cold cathode tubes or an led strip of lights?

Does the backlight help with eye strain while watching movies in the dark?
As I sit in front of a computer 25 hours a day Im looking for ways to help lessen the strain on my eyes.
Plus it just looks so damn badass!

I will be buying a nice big flat LED TV in the next few months and have toyed with the idea of something like this.

@mrpoto

it is a Galaxy Tab 3 and it is running Dash Meter Pro , it is available for Assetto Corsa, Race 07 , GTR 2 , both rFactor amd rFactor 2 , and some other driving games...it syncs up with the game and displays game data i.e tach and tire temps , g-forces , fuel etc.

LOL! No, that stuff is for work mostly (and some, ahem, games). The HP has to crank through EEG and nerve cell voltage data and the Cintiq is for MRIs mostly, data entry and annotating journal articles. Oh, and spotting pictures in Photoshop. I can't draw to save my life, unfortunately.

The HP is a great computer and that on-site tech support is a must for me. The best buy is the base single cpu hex model which one can upgrade to a dual cpu etc. for less money than what HP will charge.

boss workstations guys. I'll have to take some quality pics of mine, I recently upgraded to a Ikea Galant Left Corner and picked up a Poker II keyboard with mx blue switches and blue led backlighting, it looks nice next to my Corsair K70 black aluminum keyboard and mx red switches and led.

Word. I allow myself $25/month towards my "hobby money." You can imagine how painful it is saving up an entire year for a GPU or a monitor. But I would rather do that than be buried in debt all the time.
