Hey,

So looking through an auction site I've run across this:

Here is another one:

However all the caddies are empty, anyone know what type of hard drives will go into this? I don't have much info to go by "Rack HP 42U - from an HP EVA (All HDD's removed) only controllers/HDD enclosures in it." is the auction name.

Need a storage array, wondering if I should put a bid on this.

Thanks for any info!

Bah, not worth the cost then I thinks. It'll cost more in power and drives for a small array than what it's worth.

Thanks!

If you're interested in cheap HP storage, look for MSA60's and MSA70's. They only go to 1.5gbps SATA and 3gbps SAS, but they are literally $50 on ebay.

What is your budget, you can look for a used EMC CX4 on ebay they aren't to much

Hey,

Thanks for the info. That array went for about $600. Pretty alright, need another $10k-$15k for drives and it'll be a good array.

We currently have a md3000i with an extra md1000 as our SAN. But looking at expanding it and adding a 2nd/3rd SAN on the cheap. Which is tough to do.

However we did pick up a lot of PE2950s for $40 each ;-)
