Hi guys, my dog chewed my left speaker wire on the klipsch promedia 2.1. Is there a cheap way to fix these? I just got them and they were brand new so it's disappointing but it happens. I had the dog put down so this never happens again, but still need to repair my speakers. Thanks

If there is enough wire left over you can just splice it via Soldering or butt connectors. If its not the control box wires it will only be 2 wires. Wait did you have your dog put down over it chewing your $100 dollar computer speakers? I guess its none of my business but.... Jeez.

Soldering is a good idea, and butt connectors are also okay, but since these are very low power you can just splice them like this http://www.thumpertalk.com/uploads/monthly_01_2012/post-54309-13264039658639.gif (but splice it exactly that way if so; don't just lazily twist them together in a way that ends up making a very loose connection - if you do the splice right it will be pretty tight). Cover with heat shrink or electrical tape (preferably name brand like 3m, not the cheap stuff - cheap electrical tape will unstick after a while)

If you do have a soldering iron and solder handy, though, then solder them.

u killed your dog over this... you and I must never ever ever be in the same room....ever.

christ it is an easy fix you can figure it out yourself...

my cat chewed the cable for my logitech Z560's years ago... my only real concern was that my cat hadn't been hurt..

i fixed the cable and moved the cable a bit...

LOL, it was just a bad joke guys. The goggie is safe. She's a sweetie. Here she is:

Thanks for the advice. I will try the western union splice since it seems to be only one wire. Will report back, thanks!

oh ... omg ... u jerk... LOL.. I was sooooo mad

cute doggie :)

so yeah.. should be pretty easy to fix as mentioned before if enough cable is left coming out of the speaker you should just be able to remove the damaged bit and splice it together.

alternately you could open the speaker and desolder damaged wire and then solder undamaged wire in.

omg ...thank god that the dog is ok however.... oh man i was ready to come find and punch you :)

That isnt a very good joke lol. Thats good to hear. Yeah i left out heatshrinking the wires after soldering or splicing.

Like others have said, a proper in-line splice is the way to go. Cut and strip each wire in the pair, solder them together, and use two layers of heat shrink tubing. One over each wire and another to wrap the bundle.

Is that an aussie? I love aussies...

When I read that you put your down down I was like wtf......... but I'm glad to hear that was a joke.
