The following is a comparison thread that highlights the differences between the two platforms. The Wii U is excluded as well as exclusive titles for either platform. The other thread had too much "negativity" in the original post with all the bad press links and the thread title.

Sources are usually Digital Foundry, Developers, and News articles. Whoever breaks the story first gets the credit.

ALL SPORTS TITLES ARE 1080p/60 on both Xbox One and Playstation 4. They will likely always be 1080p/60 for the entire generation.

COD Ghosts: 1080p/60 - PS4 | 720p/60 - Xbone
BF4: 900p/60 - PS4 | 720p/60 - Xbone (PS4 w/ HBAO averages better frame rates than the Xbone without HBAO)
AC4: 1080p/30 - PS4 | 900p/30 - Xbone
NFS: Rivals: 1080p/30 (Xbox One missing DoF)
Tomb Raider: 1080p/60 - PS4 | 1080p/30 - Xbone (PS4 w/ better textures, AA algorithm, DoF, etc.)
Metal Gear: Ground Zeros: 1080p/60 - PS4 | 720p/60 Xbone
Thief: 1080p/30 - PS4 | 900p/30 - Xbone (PS4 has a texture streaming issue, unconfirmed reports also say the Xbone does as well. Both platforms see significant drops under 30 with the PS4 maintaining a slightly higher average. The PS4 also uses TF as opposed to the better 16x AF seen on the Xbone.)

PENDING:

[RUMOR] Watch Dogs: 1080p/30 - PS4 | 900p/30 - Xbone Source
[RUMOR] The Witcher 3: 900p/30 - PS4 | 720p/30 - Xbone (Working to get PS4 to 1080p)
[RUMOR] Wolfenstein: The New Order: 1080p/60 - PS4 | 1080p/60 - Xbone (Uses id Tech 5 engine, same as RAGE)

Destiny: Unknown
The Division: Unknown

Seriously though, I'm legitimately curious, why bother with all this? The PS4 lovers will circle up and jerk each other off. The Xbox One lovers will desperately try to prove you wrong. This thread will turn into a shit-fest like the last one.

Meanwhile, I'm keeping busy with my Xbone and PC...

What about the wii-u?

Ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

I am curious as to how FPS are determined, is the FPS listed the minimum, average or max?

Which is why he posted it. He has zero interest in anything other than getting into a flame fest.

I actually locked the other thread to remove the bias but good job getting back on track.

The frame rates are what the developers went with as their goal. If there are noticble issues then it is mentioned (see Thief).

I'm sorry but this thread is pure flame Jin. Also AC4 on the Xbox One is 900p/30fps since it was also patched like the PS4 version for an increased resolution.

Some of those PS4 games can't even maintain anything close to 60 the majority of the time you play them. Some can but have major dips during gameplay that is heavily distracting. Ghosts on the PS4 isn't even something that the "pro" players will use for tournaments because the dips can happen at horrible times and they are that distracting. Killzone looks great but it hardly even runs 1080p/60fps in MP , I would say it hits 45 on average at best and sometimes it can go as low as sub 20's during a fire fight. Even in SP at 30fps it isn't always solid either. "60 FPS" is a catch all way to mention what's possible in a next gen console game but rarely do they actually keep even close to that frame rate even.

There is something to be said about consistent frame rates versus "up to". Consoles are completely unlike PC's in that regard as a PC game can be tuned via options to increase the frame rate. Consoles rarely have such options.

What purpose does this thread serve? Honestly? People are more than well aware what the frame rates are of games coming out because every media outlet that reports gaming news makes sure to highlight the latest rumors and confirmation concerning final release resolution and frame rate.

Its funny but when the Xbox first came out (the very first 1 not the "One") it rendered at 480i like every other console. But when they started to offer 480p and at times 720p people didn't freak out or argue about it , everyone pretty much embraced. And even after the PS2 came out people barely mentioned when one game had "X" resolution or the same game on a different system had "X" resolution instead.

If you give a shit about having native 1080p in most of your games then buy a PS4. If you don't give a shit then buy either system that suits your fancy. Threads like this aren't going to inform anyone differently then what is already readily available information.

Wii U dominates all. Totally not kidding. You're a flame hoar Jin... learned that from the BS you kept going on about in the Wii U thread.

The difference being it was honest discussion. Especially in the case of the Wii U. Iwata has already came out on everything we were talking about so there is really nothing left to say there.

Notice that thread has pretty much been dead since then?

Also AC4 on the Xbox One is 900p/30fps since it was also patched like the PS4 version for an increased resolution.

Corrected, they were both originally 900p.

Like I said the frame rates are targets and unlike exclusives for either platform most of these titles play the same on either or. Thief for instance has horrific dips on both and the PS4 version has texture streaming issues.

So within 18 minutes of you trying defend the killzone fall out (http://hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1040670460&postcount=28) you make a repost of your other thread that you bumped and then closed for more exposure.

Just take your "L" like a man, you can always post the 6million in sales figure today or tomorrow.

What exactly was I defending? The OPs title was wrong on multiple points (I was not the only one who noticed). It's not a "L" at all, I don't talk mad smack (or whatever you wish to call it), if something is there to be said say it.

It's too easy atm.

Also I posted the reply in the thread and then closed it after the fact for good reason. Everything from the title to the major bad press linked reflected poorly for the Xbox One. I removed the bs and reposted. It'll be buried soon enough don't worry.

It would be nice to have a actual discussion on here without users calling each other names and or trolling. This shit is getting old really fast, and some people here need to be banned. I'm not pointing anyone out but it should be pretty clear.

I don't think there is really a need for discussion or this thread at all. Everyone knows for a fact that the hardware in the XBONE is inferior to the PS4. But why does this matter? I'll admit that I don't like the idea of multiplatform titles needing to make concessions for the weaker hardware on another system. But we should just enjoy playing the games on our system of choice.

I will point out something that is perplexing to me, though. Referencing Thief, why would a developer choose to use trilinear filtering over anisotropic? Anisotropic hasn't been a hit to performance in around 10 years. Unless there are some rendering issues going on. Thief is probably compromised anyway with it also being released on PS3 and X360.

Man do you guys actually play games or is it all just benchmarking and e-penises in here. Seriously go play some games and get the sand out of your vagina.

The only relevant discussion regarding the PS4 and xone would be the directions they decided to take. Everyone is aware that the PS4 has superior hardware. This topic is nothing more than another next -jin passive aggressive flame fest so he can mock anyone who disagrees with him. This thread should be locked.

For all the people who "don't care" about this stuff a whole bunch of you cared enough to reply to this. If you don't like a post ignore it instead of boosting it to the top over and over. :D

Blame the panel manufacturers for cramming the 720p and 1080p moniker down our throats these past few years. And in elementary school I was taught 1080 is a bigger number than 720. So my guess is that folks are arguing over which number is bigger and better.

I have both consoles. My Xbox just sits in the dust. I hate the Xbox controller. Its the same shit as the 360. The dpad fucking sucks for fighting games. The menu system is clunky and games take forever to install. I do have high hopes for it though.

Why doesnt this thread point out games that have the same resolution and frame rate? Hell beyond that why doesnt it point out exclusive content such as legends mode on Fifa exclusive to the xbox 1, or DLC dates? Your bias is showing, If you want a truely objective comparison of two consoles releases you have to include these things

Perhaps because the thread title is relevant to information we might be needing. However, when entering it is just another flame bait thread masquerading as a legitimate topic. This section of the forum is slowly turning into a cesspool of insults, flaming, and fanboyism. Be nice to get back to some civility and professionalism.

You forgot Titanfall PS4 0P No AA/AF, No DoF, No Shaders, No Fog.

Just helpin out your thread Jin.

There's no point for these threads any more. The systems have been out for months. Just say what you want to say. The PS4 at this point is more powerful. End of thread.

Very true. Level of fucks given by me? Zero.

Back to BF4 I go.

Hes still lacking several multi-plats that run at the same resolution/framerate, including one that has exclusive xb1 content

Why would a comparison thread have exclusive games listed?

Which game are you talking about Strider? It's an indie game, I can put those up as well but generally speaking they all perform the same. Strider obviously being the exception since that game for whatever reason also uses TF.
