If you own a gaming pc and a ps4 is there any point in owning a xbox one?

This is a serious question. I am not trolling. I own a ps4, a xbox one, and a pc.
Are there any exclusives coming out that make keeping an xbox one worth it?

If you don't care about Halo, Gears of War or Forza, then I really don't see a point in owning an Xbox.

Seems like an awful lot of money to spend just to have access to 3 more games.

To me, it would make sense if you had a lot of network attached media and possibly another room with another TV that you wanted to be able to access it from.

Since Bungie is working on Destiny and does not do Halo anymore, I would say that is one less reason. :p

I have a PS4, PC, Xbox One, WiiU, etc.
There isn't any super-compelling reason (other than Killer Instinct) today, but over the next 7-9 years there certainly will be a few.
Unless you have money burning up your pockets or some kind of gift card you have to spend, I wouldn't.
If you're like me and know you'll get one eventually anyway...go right ahead.

Pretty much this. The PS3 has a history of having a larger variety of exclusive titles available on the console, and I see no reason why this won't happen with the PS4. And the multiplatform titles that are not released on PC will run better on PS4.

On the subject of media it's probably better to build your own HTPC. The multimedia capabilities look to be more troublesome to get working with all the features you want than it's worth. Since I have no first-hand experience with the ONE myself, I am simply speaking from a personal opinion formed by looking at and reading about experiences around the 'net.

I'm a recovering Xbox 360 owner who now owns a PS4 along with my PC .

I currently have a PC, PS4 and Xbox One. While I find myself using my Xbox One more for media and current exclusive games I wouldn't recommend a PS4 owner to pick one up as well. Unless you're a big fan of the MS exclusives there isn't much reason. Now if you don't have either console yet then I'd say get a Xbox One as there have been some deals lately bringing the price down to $450.

I own a gaming PC, PS4 and an Xbone, I say its worth it if and only if you want to play the exclusives on the Xbone.

Though I must say the multitasking on the Xbone TRUMPS the PS4 hands down.

No.

It's playing out just like last gen on the exclusives front the only difference here all of the 360 pros last gen are now in favor of PS4 as opposed to the One.

And yes I technically do own an Xbox One now , fucking wife bought one - for Zumba and Xbox Fitness....

If you own a PC and XBox One the same exact question can be asked about the PS4. The fact is at the present time, the Xbox One has significantly better exclusives. I have all 3, and i havent even powered the PS4 on literally since the first week i bought it, the Xbox one has seen significantly more use from streaming ESPN to playing dead rising and forza

Buy the consoles when worthwhile exclusives come out? Preferably with good bundle deals? Because if you are "futureproofing," now, all you're doing is wasting money.

If you add Quantum Break to the list you got 4. 5 if you like Fable, although some have come to the PC and others haven't.

343 studios did a great job with Halo 4, and I think quite a few people on this board thought it was one of the better games in the franchise (myself included).

Nah, pick your favorite console - Xbone or PS4, and stick with it. Most games eventually come to PC, and you can live without the 3 or 4 that stay exclusive over the next 10 years.

I never bought a PS3, and there's only a handful of games I wanted to play that I never could with my PC/Xbox 360. Now, I can pick up an old one for cheap and retro game if I want. It's not like I've suffered with no games to play (in fact, don't we all have the opposite problem? "My backlog is SO big")

This time I opted for a PS4, so I'll pass on the XBone.

Seems like a waste of $500 unless you HAVE to have the exclusives mentioned. In which case, why buy the PS4 in the first place and not a XB1?

^ Because the Wii U and PS4 have exclusives I want to play and the XBOne does not?

Game PC VS console... I have both, and I took my old game rig and hooked it up to my big screen TV, for a Steam machine and a HTPC ( XBMC on it ) entertainment beast. I also have a better game PC at my desk. I do enjoy relaxing on the sofa/recliner-chair and playing a console ( XB1 and Steam machine ) as well.

So if you need a little break from the PC ( desk and chair and keyboard/mouse ) then yes a good console is the way to go.

I took my old XB360 and hooked it up in my bedroom along with a android set top box, again poor mans htpc and game rig combo. Love it.

As for a PS4, do I need one... of course I do. Do I own one, no. I do want one, just holding off for now.

Is PS4, XB1 or PC better? I'm a gamer, please don't ask silly questions like that. When push comes to shove I like my Nexus 7 as well.

If you're a pc gamer ps4 will end up being the better option in the long run for the best versions of console exclusives you can't play on pc and seemingly likely they will have more to offer on the first party front. Xb1 is more of a end of console life purchase to me.

Forza is probably the only thing that might do it for some, but no wheel support kills that even.

Personally only game on xb1 so far that i really would be interested so far would be quantum break (<3 remedy) but i'm willing to wait it out, maybe something will happen like they did with alan wake.

At this point in time I don't see a reason to have an X1 and a PC especially since you have a PS4. In a couple years when there's a larger game library it might be worth looking into.

I've got both and the only thing I've wanted to play on XB1 is Forza now that driveclub is delayed. But with Titanfall on PC with great controller support, and lots of great racing games such as Next Car Game, Assetto Corsa, Projects Cars, my Ps4 hasn't been turned on in months. Unless you're a die hard Halo fan, I think you'll be okay without one.

With already owning a gaming PC and PS4 I don't think there's any need for an XB1 as well. For me, the cost of the console wouldn't justify the few games I'd play on it.

Ah the old 'relaxing in a sofa/chair' argument for consoles. It always rears its ugly and incorrect head in every one of these type of threads. Because you can't do the exact same thing with a PC.

I think you might be forgetting the convenience that consoles offer over PCs with the whole "relaxing on the couch" argument. A console's OS can be controlled by the controller. Unless your PC boots straight into Steam Big Picture or some front end software (something your average consumer will know nothing about), you're going to need to use a keyboard and mouse to launch your applications. On the console, grab the controller, turn on console, launch game, go.

Everyone is forgetting about one thing, the tv experience. Its not a must have, but my xb1 stays on all day when we are home. Even my wife is a believer now.

I'm honestly interested because I see people talk about this as a positive a lot, but with no detail. What does the XBONE add to the cable TV watching experience that adds value to your $500 video game console purchase? Is it the voice control? Just putting it out there, but I would feel like an idiot saying "Xbox <command>" all the time...

Honestly no you wouldnt. Its common in our home now. "Xbox watch cbs" "Xbox watch espn". "Xbox, volume up". Even if you choose the remote, then thats fine, but the remote isnt necessary at all. Only if you decide to watch recorded shows. Whn friends and family comes over and see the features, they are blown away. Even females are impressed with it.
Does it add to the TV experience, not really, just an overlay of controls, but whats cool is that it controls everything from the receiver, to the tv to the cable box. The kinect is the actual remote.
That extra $100 you spend is the convenience of the kinect and voice controls. Also the instant login when you walk in front of the kinect. Its very cool. My son and i usually bet who will the kinect recognize and sign in first when we power on the console.

I have all three. At this point the Xbox One was a mistake lol. Forza 5 was really meh so was Ryze. I dont care for twitch action FPS anymore so COD and Titanfall are dead to me. PS4 I am hoping the RPGs will come like they did for PSX and PS2.

You missed the part about him having a Steam machine connected to his TV...

Very interesting. Thanks for sharing :). Do you experience any degradation in the quality of your cable signal going through the XBONE?

Nope, there should not be any degradation unless you live in Europe but iirc that will be patched within days now.

The PS3 did NOT have a larger set of better exclusives early on in the last gen. Ask yourself why they ended up with them? The answer is because they were so far behind they needed something to catch up and this is why they poured more money into getting more exclusives and giving away better games with PS+ since there was no other reason to subscribe. So you said you see no reason why they wont have more exclusives this time and the answer is well what do you think MS is going to do? The obvious answer since they have a less powerful console and people reacted badly to the Kinect is they are going to pour more money into exclusives. Because that is the only thing left that MS can do now to change their fate.

If you need more reasons you can also consider that MS is a profitable company with like 60 billion to be burned sitting in the bank. Sony has been riding on a decade of losses and as soon as they smell a lead they are going to try to turn that into cash, not spend more.

So there are your reasons in the end no one knows what will happen with either company. You don't buy a console on speculation you buy it for what is available now.

Who cares if they have better early on exclusives? I would rather the developer spend time to make the game its best. PS+ wasnt needed because Playstation users werent forced into paying money just to play online, unlike Xboxlive. It had a few advantages but it was not required.
