Today, we’re introducing the all-new 2014 version - TITAN BLACK. Featuring the same full GK180 chip configuration found in the GTX 780 Ti, TITAN BLACK delivers a staggering 5.1 Teraflops of computing performance per card. Double down by sliding two GTX Titans into your PC and you can take advantage of a total of 5,760 cores for even more performance. Each TITAN BLACK also supports up to four displays per card—two DVI, one HDMI and one DisplayPort—perfect for large scale displays or multi-monitor configurations.

I really want to the 790!

Any info on when details for the 800 series will drop?

Lets hope a 790 doesn't drop. That would just mean the 800 Series is even further away. Don't really see the point in this release other than Nvidia trying to play it off as if Titan was a fluke and they aren't trying to milk the market because you know damn well more gamers than not will buy that card.

Whats the point of this card? I recognize the gpu is fully "unlocked" and running at "full speed", but a current gen Titan overclocked will turn in just about the same performance.

More than that, a 780ti is cheaper and will perform equally.

Beyond the double precision possibility, I see zero justification for this card at this point in time.

Strange release.

Nvidia's answer to AMD taking all the bitcoin mining sales.

But you can overclock these too...

The extra memory will come in handy when you turn on SSAO @4K resolutions. You know someone is going to buy four of these and try it.

I don't really see the point in putting DVI on such a high end card. I would rather see 4 HDMI or 2 HDMI and 2 Display Port.

nvidia is grasping for straws as 20nm maxwell will not see the light of day till q4 this year or q1 next due to tsmc not having a smooth transition to 20nm

Just sounds like a marketing ploy to generate hype, IMO.

"Bet on black...I mean, green...wait, what are we doing again?"

wonder if its hdmi 2.0??

AMD, NVIDIA and Intel are not likely to support HDMI 2.0 they don't want to pay the stupid license costs when they can just put DP ports on their cards and let people use adapters.

gk180? That must be a typo.

I've read elsewhere and seen it on Nvidia slides that GK180 is like a "revision" (barely) in manufacturing to enable full SMX. Kind of like how GF100 and GF110 were basically the same chip.

As much as I would love to have one myself, I wonder if used Titan prices will drop even further... I'm interested in the full DP options that it provides, but not the price. Part of the reason why I'm plenty happy with my 580 still as I am faster than a 780ti in my DP applications. That, and I need a new roof. But which is really more important? Roof or new GPU? :p

I want 790!

Yeah I have my Ncase M1 sitting in my closet and a 790 would be epic in one of those. I will need a larger power supply than the currently available ST450- G. Having two GPU's in a ITX Ncase would be really awesome.

I remember when I bought my 7950 GX2 and the 8800 GTX came out like 3 months later.
Boy, did I feel like a fool.

Same here. Last year at this time, I sold my 570 and moved up to a 670. Then Nvidia sprang the 770 less than a month later. This time I'm waiting!

I don't see the point of putting HDMI on such a high-end card, should be DisplayPort end-to-end.

Not sure why you'd want HDMI at all, any DisplayPort or DVI port can be adapted down to HDMI with a simple passive adapter, but HDMI cannot be adapted up to Dual-Link DVI or DisplayPort.

+1

Me too, but I can't imagine NVIDIA doing it any time soon.

If they release a $1000 GTX 790, then whats the point of buying a Titan Black for less performance?

edit: unless this means a GTX790 will be priced at $1200+ :(

This is where Nvidia and the Titan fucked it all up like I knew it would and many others who saw the problem with a $999 Titan last February. Nvidia marketed and sold it like a Gaming card, yet claiming it wasn't meant for gaming. Now everyone will treat any future Titan or single GPU based card at this price range as a gaming card, thus destroying the entire dual-die single GPU market altogether without forcing the price to rise just so it doesn't look all kinds of stupid.

according to the that TITAN Black review the chip used its a GK110. not a GK180 as mentioned, i think its a Epic Miss in the Nvidia blog..

I spy pads for an additional 8-pin power connector on the end of that PCB.

Possible we'll see non-reference cards with 3 power connectors?

I doubt it. Nvidia doesn't allow for non-reference titans.
True, but that doesn't stop OEM's from releasing add-ons.

For example, EVGA wasn't allowed to sell the Titan with an ACX cooler pre-installed, so they offered it as a $40 aftermarket add-on (with full Titan branding and everything).

EVGA also used to offer a massive additional power regulation circuit board, which requires a HELL of a lot of soldering to install. Not for the faint of heart.

I could see them offering a small kit containing an additional power connector and modified BIOS. ;)

Lmao, I remember telling my friend not to buy this card because it was really late in the 7 series life time it was like 1 year later after the launch he didn't listen, when he saw the performance of my 8800 GTX on my 1920x1200 monitor, which was really high back in 2006 I could see him melting beside me :D

It's even funnier when you get the people from the other side of the argument that are adamant in defending its pricepoint as a single GPU card, saying it's only for prosumers, not gamers.
