Titanfall - Respawn Entertainment's first game

I was able to sneak in an hour before work. The tutorial is really long. It's useful as the controls are a bit unique, but they could have probably done one single level tutorial instead of breaking it into pieces for each control element.

Played one match online though, and it was really fun. Will try to get in some more time tonight.

I ended up getting a beta code minutes after I posted earlier, was able to remote into my home pc and start the origin download... download speeds were just crushing it.

Looking forward to everyone's impressions and getting a chance to try it out tonight!

Got a beta code! Won't be playing today though, the wife would kill me if I tried to nerd-out today.

Seems like everyone but me in this thread is getting one. Darn. Oh well, I've got all weekend.

My Origin download speeds were showing ~20 MB/s... and i'm on 20mbps U-Verse. I really want to know where they were coming up with that speed. I wish I actually timed it to see how long it took, but it did seem alarmingly quick for this connection.

Some Titanfall benchmarks. Supposedly the game will do 120FPS, but you need trilinear filtering on for it to happen.

I think it's just bugged at the moment. Here's some technical things I noticed:

-I have to enable V-Sync (either double or triple buffering) to get 120FPS; disabling it forces 60FPS. Changing texture filtering like the article states doesn't do anything.

-Changing AA mode in-game doesn't work, it simply resets to "None".

-High texture resolution uses up 1.5GB VRAM, "Insane" texture resolution maxes out 3GB VRAM; looks slightly better but not nearly enough to warrant twice the VRAM. Guessing the full textures aren't in?

Does everyone who register get a beta code? I signed up as soon as it came live and haven't received anything. I did change my origin email after registering but no key has been sent to both e-mail addresses.

I don't know if everyone will get one but they do want a lot of people in. Codes will be going out in batches until Weds.

Try restarting Origin or reinstalling the game. I did a quick Google search and there isn't really anything as far as reports go for bugs in the beta yet.

I realized I was running on MS default drivers for my soundcard, installed the proper drivers and rebooted and got to play without a hitch. Maybe that was my problem all along (been struggling with BF4 too).

(edit: also disabled "AMD High Definition Audio device" and "Intel(R) Display Audio" in device manager just in case, so I was unfortunately changing multiple parameters at once)

Quick question guys. Is there an NBA for this beta or can I post videos for you guys?

Well I'm not sure what the National Basketball Association would have to do with Titanfall :p there is no NDA for the beta so you can post whatever you like.

Speedy enough. Too bad they don't have an elapsed too.

The past hour of my life I will never get back. Trying to get a beta key off twitter. Never again.

Code deployment was halted last night to fix the mixup issue. Codes should be flowing again now. Apologies for the delay. Happy V-day!

EDIT: If you use tabs in Gmail, some users are finding the beta codes under their "Promotions" tab.

Maybe they're looking for a certain demographic for invitees?

based on my invite you could...
try saying that you're: 20-23 yrs old, from the US and signing up with a different originID/email (and probably better to do it from a different IP, 3g/4g instead of wifi?)

What the hell connection do you have? Google fiber? Lol

for some reason that i won't ever figure out i got 20MB/S download for the first 2 gigs. I pay for 20Megabit/s. I got 160 instead of 20. it was IN-SANE. I have no idea why. I can't wait until I can actually get that speed 24/7.. 20MB/s vs 2.5MB/s.. wow.

and on topic: game is AWESOME. I had LOTS of doubts about it. but its fun, its fluid and its FAST. posting some videos and other stuff later.

definitely fun...6v6 doesn't seem to be an issue...I like the unique moves like wall climbs, double jumps etc...graphics don't look as good as the specs make it seem...Titans get destroyed too easy though

I wish the point system were set a bit higher, the matches end in like 7min. It is really fun.

Some of the mechanics are similar to Call of Duty (gunplay, melee, etc.) but once you're in-game, it feels like something completely different.

To me, it's more like Unreal Tournament 2004.

feels like I'm piloting a Jaeger from Pacific Rim...the mechanics when switching from soldier to mech takes a bit of getting used to but the game is a lot of fun

So is it basically CoD: Mech Edition? Or is there something else there?

Parkour climbing and wall running. If you want to get to a spot you can be inventive. Fast paced as in ultra fast! I wish I had FRAPS running earlier when I switched to a shotgun for a round. I thought I cleared out a building of players and AI opponents. So I approached a window and jumped out. Behind me I heard a rifle winding up and I was like, "Damn time to die." Mid fall I contorted my body 180 degrees and shotgun blasted this fool to smithereens who was staring out the window at me to line up the killing blow. Dropped another blast to a couple of A.I. that were amazed at my skill and then finally ate a guided bullet from a pistol. The guided bullet shit can go to hell though. In a hand basket.

I'm on a building-wide (apartment complex) LAN that connects to fiber in the cellar. Currently paying for 100/10 but I think it goes all the way to 1000/100.

I've been going on and on about it before, but Origin cheats. You can't trust the numbers you see.

As for the game, it's fun. I've played five rounds or so. Haven't actually entered a Titan yet, I've been using them more like a deployable turret.

GMG just sent out a $10 off code so if you're looking to buy check that out.

I think a lot of people are going to make the mistake of playing like that sniper guy at first: playing it like it's just another CoD. From all the videos I've seen it seems like the mechanics will hurt players who are afraid or refuse to go out of their comfort zones. I've been on the fence for this one, so hopefully I'll get a beta code.

I hope the PC community will support this game because I refuse to buy an Xbox ONE at this point in time, and this title is definitely not a console seller.

I agree. It depends on who you watch during the gameplay videos. A number of videos I have seen, the player plays Titanfall like CoD (just running around on the ground or standing still), so people get the impression that it's just another CoD shooter. But if you see players utilize the double jump/wall running and combining the two to move, it reminds me of an arena shooter like Quake/UT.
