iPhone owners admit to being blindly loyal to Apple? I am shocked, shocked I tell you! :D

Some three fifths of more than 2,000 iPhone users questioned in a survey said they would always switch to Apple’s latest iPhone, admitting to a “blind loyalty” to the brand. When asked why they would not consider a different phone 78 per cent claimed they “couldn’t imagine having a different type of phone now”.

When you've dumped tons of money on apps, its difficult to switch.

That was my thought. You get trapped with their proprietary apps and a lot of people go through hell to get everything organized in iTunes, too.
At this point I no longer have any "must have" apps on iOS, so I'm prepared to jump ship if Samsung shows something decent in a few weeks.

Big deal how many people have blind loyally to other companies and goods?
Lots.

Weird and stoopid physiological attachment people have toward companies stuff they sell to them.

Losing my paid apps is holding me back a bit from making the switch. But my Iphone 4 is really starting to show its age and the S4's price is very very tempting. I just can't wear my jeans because the damn S4 barely fits in my pockets (i have a s4 work phone), lol.

The study seems to treat the lack of desire to change your phone vendor as if it were a bad thing. Maybe... just maybe... it's because the phone you're using is a good product that does what you want it to?

If you go into this with the attitude that since iPhones are automatically bad because your Android phone is good then all iPhone users have blind loyalty, all I got for you is:

Pot. Kettle. Black.

Are you small bodied? I fit my S4 in my pocket easily with the case on.

Personally I suppose I am OS loyal... switching from Blackberry to Android when the Evo 4G came out, and I've owned most top of the line Android devices since.

I've used a few iphones for work, but you couldn't pay me enough to use one for personal daily use. It would never happen.

In my experience only hipsters and old people own iphones.

What i find funny is the comment they won't consider switching to a different phone. Well if you never try it you never know what you missed out on or to even solidify your decision. Personally that's a fail in life's lessons. Since the competition has far surpassed Apple in pretty much every area.

I currently have a iphone 4s and work with a team of apple zombies. To them there is nothing better than apple products no matter the price. Funny thing is they have NO clue what specs mean. To them its like a golf cart, you press the pedal and it works. Start talking processor , ram, resolution, GPU, etc and you will ALWAYS get a blank look from a apple lover. They are FKINN clueless.. I could take a dump, put a apple logo on it and its better than a Ferrari ... I don't know how they manage to get up in the morning and start their cars without Siri telling how to do it. When I saw this article it just confirmed what I have known for years. My next phone will be the galaxy s5 as long as they don't donkey dick it. Please 2k screen, 3-4 gigs ram.. great camera , great battery life. come on Samsung PLEASE make my transition easy and done cut corners on the s5 !!. Im going to send this article to my team on Monday and say,, wow really??? if someone else makes a far superior product apple faggs wont even consider it???? Have fun paying 3X the price for your mac book without even having the smallest idea of what you are paying for. Its soo god damn annoying even having a conversation with apple people. I want to switch to a android phone just so I cant be included in the "clueless apple sheep".. Can I get a fkinn AMEN !!!!!!

And in other news , Ice Cream is tasty.

All I can think of is "duh" when I read this article.

Most Apple users are tools who don't even enjoy technology. They own Apple to go alongside their Justin Bieber albums and Jordans.

I wonder how many people that said they would stick with an iPhone don't have hardly any apps?

Many of the iPhone users at the office wouldn't switch because even after 3+ years they can barly use Apple's simplified UI. Switch them to another phone and they'd be completely lost.

5'11", 177lbs. Average size I guess :p

Nah, my Jeans just have small pockets. My cargo pants fit nearly anything in those pockets.

I used to be a big apple fan, but as they have gotten bigger they have been proving less and less reliable as a company I can trust.

Older products conveniently get phased really fast by software updates, they completely bjorked itunes, they're way way too locked down- apple tv for instance.

I've also been having more glitches than normal lately- my airplay cuts out often, I had to sign the user agreement every time i launched itunes until i reformatted, I can't burn cd's w/ itunes now because it starts to write then tells me the cd isn't blank, my remote app started being very unresponsive often with 5 second delays between actions.

I just don't trust them anymore. I changed to an android phone a few days ago and I was surprised how much more i like it vs the iphone. Next step is to replace my apple tv w/ a steam box, and to find something to replace itunes (any suggestions?)

I was using a 3gs for 2 years and bought a bunch of apps. The biggest thing that I regret the most when I swapped to a Nexus 4 was most of my friends were playing games that IOS had. Most notably Carcassone. I was tired of iOS and wanted to switch it up for android.

I like reading reviews and trying new things. Though my GNex is two years old and still works so I haven't bothered replacing it.

they completely bjorked itunes,

No surprise really..Same is true for many things.

That said, Paid apps aren't much of an excuse for me either way. 5+ years owning a smart phone, number of apps actually paid for? 0.

I'm sure. But I went from Android (only smartphones I've known) to an iPhone 4s and took me about a day to say, hey this things a better phone but a worse tablet than my s3 or s4...

Has better camera quality and better call quality. At least for me.This was a big shock but I'm dealing with it. I miss widgets though.

The biggest twist was that apple lets GooglePlay work on the iPhone. I thought that was classy.

Every not and then I get a twinge that makes me want to go back to Android. I can't say I'll never switch back, but if I do, its going to be for another Nexus device.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I worked for a T-Mobile call center for a few weeks (lol yes weeks, it sucked sooooo bad) and got to play around with all different types of phones. I hated them all. I'm used to my iPhone and its software and I like it. Blindly? Maybe so but it's what I like not what others want me to like.

I say the same with Apple, both platforms work fine, while I prefer the iPhone I much prefer the larger screen on android phones.

/shrug,

I was seriously considering switching to a MotoX (that I was supposedly getting for free).

Decided to get a 5s instead to replace my iPhone4

Reason? Not blind brand loyalty. Massive fucking laziness.

I plugged the 4 into my computer, hit "back up" on itunes, when it finished, I plugged the new phone in, and hit restore.

All the shit, back in the exact same place it was. No mess, no fuss, no headache on my part.

I'll admit, I like tinkering, adjusting, tweaking and optimizing my devices sometimes.
But other times, especially as I get older, I find myself not giving a shit as long as it's easy and it works.

When you find something that works for you, why switch? You love to stir it up with these hand picked articles, doncha.

Although there are plenty of folks with blind loyalty in many commodity areas (cough cough CARS cough cough) for me it is strictly app lock-in at this point ... With well over 1000 apps for both iPhone and iPad it is not trivial to change ... If a company offered me free replacement of my apps I might think about it though :)

Same applies to Windows though also ... Linux and Apple have no appeal because I have hundreds of windows programs and replacement would be impossible so I stick with the girl that brung me ... No blind loyalty, just physical and financial reality ;)

I had a 3GS and a 4S before switching to my Note 2. The only real reason was so I could get the larger screen. However, I thought to myself, now I can do things that Apple doesn't let me do! Guess what? I use my Note 2 exactly how I used my iPhones. I surf the web, check e-mail, watch video, sent texts and keep my schedule in there. I only have a handful of apps, such as banking and a flashlight. What more did I really need to have? I guess if you are [H] with your phones, you'll overclock so you can play your Flappy Bird game at 120FPS or something.

I just upgraded to a 5s from a 4s this month (as well as switched carriers, but that's another story) and I never considered the Android phones because they don't easily do what the iPhone does. I'm a language student and am wont to using several different keyboards on a regular basis, Japanese and Russian in particular. While many Android phones have the Russian keyboard covered, I haven't found one in the US that has the Japanese. And, to be frank, Google's Japanese IME simply isn't as refined as Apple's. Additionally, I have numerous dictionaries that I paid for for iOS that work wonderfully and I haven't found equals in the Android world (I have an Asus tablet with Android that I like, but I simply am unable to do some of my language things on it). I love how my iPhone has all of the languages I'd be interested in studying available not only as keyboards, but for the entire phone itself. It's a very rare user model I know, but it's one that I'm very happy to have available to me.

So what's it called when the headline author trolls? Editorializing? Because "can't imagine owning a different phone" means "I really like my phone", not "blindly loyal."

A week, a day, no... A weekday!

To me it sounds like a non-answer especially since the question was why they wouldn't even consider another phone, which is where the blind loyalty part comes in. It's one thing to say that you're likely to buy the next Iphone however it's entirely different to say that you wouldn't even consider another phone.

That said I'm surprised it's not higher, the Apple RDF must be weakening because based on my experiences it would have been more like 4/5 or 9/10 a few years ago. The people that brought up money they've spent on IOS apps have a good point, it's easy to invest enough in apps to make it difficult to justify switching to a different ecosystem(Android or IOS).

or they had multiple android phones in the past and wouldn't consider another with all the issues they've had, lol

and since Blackberry and MS phones are meh... what other choices are there

That's pretty much how I feel. I've switched back and forth about every year since the 3S came out. For the first time I went with Android twice in a row though because the screen on the iPhone is just too damn small. I absolutely love the screen on the Note 3, but still miss some IOS only apps that I used a lot.

Most Apple users are tools who don't even enjoy technology. They own Apple to go alongside their Justin Bieber albums and Jordans.

That's the appeal. Technology that at 15 year old girl, who cares about her makeup more, can use.
