Mario Kart 8 Set for May Release

The way things have been going for Nintendo this year, it’s time for some positive news coming out of the company for a change. Mario Kart 8 will be released sometime this May.

Don't get me wrong, I loved Mario cart on SNES, N64, Gamecube, Wii Virtual console, just about every Nintendo hand held I've owned.....
But isn't it getting worn a little thin?
 
Sadly sales are still crawling, but there are still more Wii-U's in living rooms than PS4's or Xbones :eek:

Mario Kart Wii sold like >35 Million I think.

Yeah, it came out over a year before the others...
 
I for one hope it does well. We have a WiiU belonging to my 8 yr old son. It doesn't get anywhere near the use of the Xbox360 he has. It's not a bad console, there's nothing actually wrong with it. Its superior imo to the xbox 360 and PS3, but it came too late with too little. Everyone else moved on a big jump, whereas they have taken a little step.
I think console gaming needs a 3rd player though like Nintendo.
Mario Kart is great harmless fun, what Nintendo is great at. I'll be getting it for our house for sure.
 
Love me some mario kart, the one single player game that can get me to rage up a storm .. especially when that fucker in last place who has zero chance of winning fires off that damn blue shell that nukes me near the end of the race, then I get hit with like two more red shells after I land...

however no WiiU, no mario kart for me.

Looking back at my teenage years, the most fun with any console I have probably ever had was with the N64.

Goldeneye
Mario Kart 64
Mario 64
WCW vs NWO
Zelda
etc

I can't possibly go back and play them now because they have not aged well but my friends and I really pissed off my dad who worked night shift many a times.
 
LOL.. I loved the WCW games on the n64. my favorite move which i called the bellringer. It was the one where the guy standing at the opponents feet who is on the ground, spread them open and does a headbutt to the groin. The thing that made it funny to me was the "Ding" bell ring sound. I pulled a hulk hogan, and would be a one move wrestler, doing it over and over again.
 
Mario Kart on SNES is still the best IMO. Maybe Ill even break out the SNES this weekend :D Countless hours playing that game.

I agree. I like all the Mario Kart games, but the AI "cheating" got outrageous starting with the N64.

Hint for Nintendo: Allowing the computer to cheat does not make the game more challenging. It just pisses people off.

The problem with your statement is that the Wii U isn't the same generation as the Xbox 360 and the PS3. You might as well state that it is superior to the Atari 2600. Xbox 360, PS3 and the Wii were the same generation. Now the Wii U, Xbox One and the PS4 are the same generation.
 
This game will probably boost Nintendo Wii U sales, if for nothing else, nostalgia. The unfortunate part is that by May I think the PS4 will already have sold more than the Wii U with its 1 year head start. The xbox one might actually have sold more too. If that news hits I think it will sour interest in purchasing a console just for Mario Kart unless Nintendo slashes prices like crazy on the Wii U.
