Anyone have a s478 Pentium 4 they're willing to donate or part with for little $$?

I would of course pay the shipping costs.

Something with Hyperthreading preferable. Either Northwood or Prescott cores would work.

I have a s478 board that's never been used, plenty of DDR1 memory, hard drives and an ATI 9800Pro. Just need the CPU. Thought it would be fun to resurrect an old platform, slap XP on there and play some older games I own, but never finished or even started as well as compare some power consumption figures between it and a couple more modern systems I have laying around.

I can probably get you a s478 Northwood 2.8ghz one, maybe a 3.0 with HT...Ill check

I think I have one in an old box at home...... I'll look when I get home. If I can find you can have it for the cost of shipping

Here is my offer:

I have these Intel CPUs to give away. All you pay is shipping, first class, however much that is.

1. Pentium 4 SL5VJ 1.8Ghz/256/400/1.75V (478)
2. Pentium 4 SL6PC 2.4Ghz/512/533 (478)
3. Pentium 4 SL653 2.66Ghz/512/533 (478)
4. Pentium Celeron SL77T 2.80GHZ/128/400 (478)
5. Pentium 4 SL7PR 2.80Ghz/1M/800/04A (775)

Preferably one free CPU per person if there are more requests. However, if after a few days of no requests, anyone can have them all if so desired.

Thanks for all the offers guys, I've replied to some PM's. The motherboard is an MSI I forget the model but I want to say it's a 965 chipset IIRC

Hopefully you mean 865, since 965 is 775.

I just threw mine in the trash yesterday lol... sorry.

MSI had some decent clocking S478 boards. The exact model number should be listed in the area around the PCI / AGP slots.

Yep, it's on there somewhere I'm sure. I'm just not home atm to look at it.

Thanks again for all the offers, I've secured a CPU for this board. Looking forward to playing and finishing the original Max Payne :)
