Place in cart to see price. Normally $999

I bought one today and at $799 for a 60" Plasma, it's pretty frickin' awesome.

Don't forget, all Plasma's look like shit in the store because of the bright lights. As long as you don't have your living room lit like a football stadium, it's awesome.

This is the first TV I've had that has a better picture than my Mitsu 60" DLP. I can sell that on Craigs List for $300 or so and get a big chunk of my money back :)

Oh, and if you use a BB card, it's 24 months no interest.

Great deal. These reflect light like a mirror though, the "Is my room dark enough" threshold on these is really low, there is no AR coating.

I sadly went from one of these (50 inch) to a LED TV due to ambient light problems, and I have curtains and (cheap) blinds on all the windows.

I have a PN60F5500 (3D vs of this) and ambient light isn't that bad at all. Ceiling light 4-5ft in front of where the TV is placed, and its fine for viewing, and have three windows in the room (heavy curtains though).

My only issue with it is IR. Something static for 5-10 seconds takes minutes to fully disappear. Only noticeable on certain colors and/or if you are sitting really close though.

So far, reflection isn't a big deal for me either.

tempting -- as I'm seriously in the market for a 60"+ TV i just dont know if i want to jump on the plasma boat.

Also -- when I added it to my cart just now, the price says $949.

I actually tried to buy the 65" Samsung LED super basic TV yesterday $999 but apparently there is ZERO stock in all of texas it seems. Bestbuy.com refuses to ship it directly to my house (despite living in a city with 6 million people), and they also refuse to do site to store shipping to any Bestbuy within 100 miles of me. so wtf?

I'm not in any sort of rush, but I will more than likely check out the TV's in the store (best buy/walmart/etc) and just buy at newegg. No Taxes, and free shipping. Everyone else wants to ding me for 50 or 100 dollars to deliver it, and charge me 100 extra in taxes.

I bought this TV on Black Friday for $750. Its a great TV.
Perfect for a medium size living room.
Our kitchen is open to the living room and has a lot of can lights and hanging pendants. They do reflect on the TV, but it isn't obnoxious.

It looks like they started a new sale. Sorry guys.

They do have a sharp 60" LED on sale for $749 now. It was $999 yesterday.

I have never once, in 5 years of owning a plasma TV, even noticed the light. Generally its more than bright enough to overcome any light or reflections. If I didn't already have one, I'd buy this right now.

Plasma tv's just don't work for my room setup during daytime hours so just be aware before buying one. Love the colors but don't like the daytime viewing - not in the least....

It says it's 600hz, can it really show 600fps if you hook up a gaming pc to the tv or are monitor and tv hz different?

Daytime TV isn't usually an issue for me. I can tell that the window reflection is present but it is easy enough to zone out. If I'm watching a movie on the other hand then the blinds have to be shut (and it is either night or hopefully cloudy out :)).

A computer monitor on the other hand... matte for me usually

Another option is just to get blinds that can really block light, Even though light is really meaningless in my living room (we only have 1 window on the same wall as the TV) I still like to have the HT experience in good shape. So I found out that its pretty much impossible to buy a single blind that will do even a half decent job of blocking light. But cloth blinds with a decorative exterior blind and light blocking second interior blind did a great job.

It seems most blinds these days are not actually meant to block light but just block direct site. I guess this skews peoples idea of what a blind can do.

Is plasma better over the newer leds? Any other good deals put there for 55 to 60

What brand is normally seen as having the best quality and overall known to last geekiest without issues?

Panasonic is the best if you can control lighting from what I hear, while Samsung is best if you need a bit of a brighter panel.

Been over... THeres a 60" LED TV on sale now for $750 I think??

Where doz? I was leaning more to plasma I've been hearing they are better buy over led...guess I'll wait for another great deal

Check Sams, Costco, BJ's, etc for the 5350, which is the same TV sold by the big box stores. I think the price may be comparable.

God I want a new Panasonic plasma. But alas they have stopped production. In the room I have mine in my 4 year old Panasonic still looks better than half the LED's on the market today.

The DLP I replaced looks better than most of the LED's on the market today :)

It doesn't beat the Plasma though.

LED is really a shit display technology for a theater setup. Good for being cheap, thin, and looking good in a bright room. Bad for quality :( I've had multiple DLP projectors, plasma TVs, and LED TVs. The LED TVs continually disappoint for picture quality.

Sadly I ditched my plasma for a LED just to have less glare issues and no image retention concerns.

Crap. I just bought this model 2 weeks ago for $949. It's in the basement, so light interference is not an issue.

I have an HD Projector I need to get rid of. Already have the light blocking shades...

Just need a plasma! Hope another deal pops up soon.

The Panasonic plasma is not sold anymore? How does it compare to the Samsung posted here & is the 799 price match able anywhere else?
Me to SkeL I need a tv for my den, currently using a 22 checked costco , Sears, sams they are all regular price except Sears had a reconditioned for 750...bummer

Yep. The best Plasma maker on the planet threw in the towel. Panasonic has become a bunch of no-nuts weenies IMHO. I used to respect this company a lot. They ain't shit to me any more.

BTW... Thats not just because of Plasmas, but the rest is off-topic :)

Guess there are no good deals on the 50 to 55 either? Would be nice if this sake came up again soon

i pulled the trigger on a 55" Samsung SmartTV - from newegg, free shipping, no tax, $977 after my 2% cashback (1% via discover, 1% via Fatwallet)

I didn't really need or want the "smart" functions, but it's a super thin model 1.9" http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA1CZ0SG7805

Ordered on Monday -- will arrive at my house in Texas Thursday. Very excited, since I really haven't owned a "real" TV since 2008.

Long story short -- room mate moving out and taking his 46" samsung, time to upgrade. :)

I'm pretty sure the more expensive ones(and from what I hear they had some goodies at CNET this year) fix the issues on contrast and deep black pretty well. Local dimming with a lot of zones looks pretty good. It's just gonna cost you a lot for a good one.

Local dimming is a band aid to cover up the fact that the contrast ratios/black levels are bad and the screens are susceptible to defects like clouding flash-lighting. Also unless you get to true micro dimming (rear lit), local dimming often results in some black banding around the screen.

ahh well then 50? Is plasma really better than an LED in terms of picture quality & reliability?

Do you have a BJs near you? BJ's has the 60 inch version of this TV for the same price and the 50 inch version is $200 or $250 cheaper.

The models numbers at BJs are different (5350 instead of 5300), the TVs are nearly identical.
