I am looking to upgrade the video card in my rig. I would like to be able to run the recommended setup for realvision ENB @ 60+ FPS and never dip below 45. Once it dips below 45 I can really tell and it drives me mad.

I have the setup in my sig. I was thinking of getting the gtx 770 4gb version. Probably this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125462

I would rather stick closer to $300, but it's not looking like that may be in the cards...

Thanks for your help!

at what resolution will you be playing?. if 1080P then do not waste money on a 4GB version. just go with the 2GB. and a GTX 770 its plenty of power for that mods and even more. i think even a 760 and 670 will do that job fine and be locked at 60FPS.. I used to play a heavy modded skyrim (textures+Tons of workshop packs+fully ENB Series) with a 660TI and i was still locked at 60FPS with certains drops to 55FPS.. but remember that skyrim as all bethesda games still love to eat CPU. most major FPS drops in skyrim are due to CPU.

You will only need the Gigabyte GTX 770 2GB for your resolution. I'm assuming you're gaming at 1080p which won't require much VRAM.

The 770 doesn't even have the bandwidth to utilize the 4GB VRAM anyway.

Normally 1080p won't require that much VRAM but those Skyrim mods are VRAM hungry. I use both of those mods at 1920x1200 and Skyrim is using 2.6gb of VRAM. So keep that in mind if you're picking out a card just for that game.

I'm upgrading as we speak for this exact issue. Been running dual 480s and obviously was OUT of vram with the texture mods. (5760x1200 res). I grabbed a 4GB R9 290 Tri-X to try out for a spell. Very curious to see how the extra memory/bandwidth helps, before deciding if I am going to switch "sides" or go with a beefier Nvidia option.

I'll update once I give it a thorough testing.

Thanks for all the feedback! I am planning on running this at 1080p yes. I dual display's but have never been a fan of running multiple monitors with games.

@Wildace. What resolution are you running?
@gamehard6. What do you mean it doesn't have the bandwidth?
@araxie. Do you think my i5-750 @ 4ghz is enough, or do you think that it's the bottleneck?

If you plan to stick with the 2K texture packs, a 2GB GTX 760 or GTX 770 will work flawlessly. The VRAM will take a much bigger hit once you step up to 4K texture mods which is pointless at 1080P. You wont see the difference between 2K & 4K at that resolution to justify the performance hit. I run a ton of 2K texture mods & a few 4K armor & character models on my current system for Skyrim & for the most part, my single GTX 470 holds up very well. The 1280MB of VRAM is maxed out though. It does stutter however when it's trying to load to much but once it does load in, the game is a solid 60 FPS from that point on. I plan to purchase a GTX 760 soon once the price is right with plans for another down the road to SLI.

4k, real series enb and around 50 mods make my 290 hit as low as 45fps in some areas.

1920x1080

4k+ numerous other texture mods + ENB Slow mode make my 560ti hit 35fps average. Without ENB I can get 60fps constant. vRam usage is 1200+ and I have maxed my 2GB card out. I'm trying to find a 780 right now for this game. I game at 1080p.

Real Vision would be the only ENB i would ever use but as of this moment, I don't use any ENB as most can be resource intensive. Instead, I use a mixture of mods to create an ENB like experience without the the resource hit. Similar to what is shown in this video

terrible advice. You can breach 2GB GPU memory easily. Ya need 3GB.

I still dont understand how people can keep ignoring the fact that games now days are using up to and over 2gb vRam on 1080p. I maxed out my 2gb card on Skyrim with 1080p. But hey, these guys know what they're talking about:rolleyes:

At my res, I am sitting at 3.5 gb (out of 4) with all my Skyrim mods, and that's with in game AA OFF. (using RCRN which does have it's own FXAA).

(Skyrim is actually why I got rid of my GTX480s in the first place. 1.5 gb was NOT cutting it with the 2K textures and other eye candy)
