Hey, been looking at phones for a long time trying to find the right one. Basically going to be using it as a music source for DAC/Amp, looking for 64GB internal with 64GB MicroSD card.

Seems like the list is:

Note 3 > GS4 > Note 2 > GS3

Anyone have any idea where to find an unlocked, 64GB one of these with squaretrade coverage in Canada?

There's a couple Note 3 devices on ebay right now, but the sellers are misrepresenting the phones as 64GB internal when they're actually 32GB variants. There are 64GB GS3 up on ebay too, but they're only 3G.

I'm curious about what will be available after MWC in Feb too, it might be worth waiting.

what's your exact use case? how portable does it have to be?

could you go with OTG cable-> (micro/full size)SD card reader? could get 128GB (or more) external storage plus the phone's internal storage

Exact use case would be storing large quantities of flac files, operating as host for DAC/Amp, browsing the web, playing android games. I will almost definitely be rooting it and installing cyanogen.

I haven't looked into using a powered USB hub as of yet, but the phone's micro USB slot would be connected to a USB OTG DAC/Amp unit.

Apparently you can connect additional storage devices using a powered hub, but I haven't looked into that as of yet. If this actually works I would consider using a full size USB flash drive and not caring about internal storage or MicroSD.

I'm fine with the size of the Note 3, but I wouldn't really want to go any larger than that.

I doubt that you'll find one anywhere, even in Korea.

I have the Note 2, 16gb unlocked version. I, too, had waited in vain for a 64gb version. They did exist in Korea, but then I read an article on a Korean news site which stated that the 64gb was to be discontinued. This was in November 2012, I think. I hurriedly called my father, who was visiting Korea at the time (we're Korean Americans) and I asked him to find a 64gb Note 2. Too late, he couldn't find any. I had to settle for 16gb Note 2 + a 64gb microSD card. :(

My cousin has the Galaxy S4 Active, and she wanted the 64gb unlocked version as well. At the time (last August), there were none (I think you still can't get a 64gb anywhere, even in Korea), so she, too, had to settle for the 16gb + 64gb microSD.

I think you'll have to settle for the 32gb internal, or wait for announcements from the MWC as you said.

The best I've seen so far is the 64GB (internal) GS3, unlocked, 2 year squaretrade coverage, on ebay. The phone's internals are kinda dated at this point, but it would serve as an excellent media player, and it would have some capacity for gaming.

I may just wait and see if I can get the phone I wanted, or if another great one is on the horizon. I would hate to see something better available so soon after making a purchase.
