Suppose you were to meet someone in an unfamiliar location, is there a map app that would give each others position? That should take care of the guesswork if it turns out the other guy was waiting on the other side of the building for example.

I used to be able to do that on google maps, but I haven't used it for that in a while and that function seems to have been removed.

The location sharing feature of Google maps got moved into Google+. In the android app you can opt to automatically share your location with people on Google+, and they can opt to share their location back to you.

Thanks. I never use the Google+ app (or the web browser one for that matter), but i'll give it a look. That day I installed Real-Time-GPS-Tracker and it seemed to work ok. Unfortunately, he had an iPhone.

Is there any alternative tracking app that works on both platforms?

The Real Time GPS app provides tracking via a web site whose url is provided to whomever you want to track you ... it shouldn't matter what phone is used. It's worked fine for me.

I used to use a hiking app that had this feature, but I do not see it in the store now. I'll let you know if I find it again.
