I have 4 monitors (1920x1200), I want to span over 3 of the four.
Since I have 4 I'm using them as follows:

4
DVI-1
3 2 1
HDMI Display Port DVI-2

All are set to the same resolution and 60hz

However if I try to span the display then it insists that I only use 1,2,4 it will not give me an option to use 3, 2 and 1 in the place of 4, changing the DVI cable placement between (1 and 4) did not help as it still wants the same 3 displays, now monitor 4 is a very old DELL 2905 while the other 3 are all the same model Dell 2913. My previous AMD 6970 had no problems with spanning, but I can not get the Nvidia to let me select the displays or the order, as for documentation well that seems to be missing as well as Nvidia will not give me any reason for the limitation.

Suggestions?

Did you try removing the 4th monitor, then creating the surround group, then plugging the fourth monitor back in with the system running. Or if I understand what u tried correctly u only used the 4th monitor on the dvi outputs. Nvidia may want you to use both the dvi outputs as parts of the group. Then use display port or hdmi for the 3rd and fourth.

Go into multi monitor setup and move things around....I can't really remember but I was having issues with titans and 4 screens. I just kept messing with the setup and finally got it...not at my pc so I can't walk through it!

All my screens were different but 60hz 1080p

It will only allow the HDMI, DVI and Display Port to be used (which would be fine if I could select which DVI), but the issue is the DVI selected is always the wrong monitor (if I unplug one then it select the correct set, but as soon as I plug it back it poof wrong one again), no matter which one is plugin in to which port it always selects the upper monitor as part of the group. Nvidia will not allow me to select the correct monitor in its place, so now I know it has nothing to do with the DVI port, but something else which Nvidia does not tell me about.
I'm really upset with Nvidia, after all this time I expected they would have had this working (AMD had it working day one), but apparently not, maybe they should spend a little of there time getting features like this to work, as I'm disgusted, I'd wanted a 290 series, but the cost drove me to the 780 and not I'm unable to use a key feature of having 3 monitors.

Guess its back to gaming one only 1 monitor for me.

I saw your post on Geforce forums. Just want to say that you were right to cross-post it here because you'll never get any help from them. I've had posts go unanswered there for literally months.

The more I play with it the more I think it is a driver issue, no matter what else, if the 2405 is plugged in (HDMI using a DVI, or either DVI port), then it is always forced to be part of the Surround Configuration, any of the other monitors can be present or not depending upon what input is used. All of this is nice, but for the fact that it is the 1 monitor I do not want to use no matter what, (basically you can not game on it given the ghosting).

I posted on Geforce, since that is the official site, and not I did not really expect a response there, but figured what the hell.

It's gotta b 1 port on the card that has to be used as 4th to not b part of the surround group. Really messed up if it just wants to use that monitor no matter what port. Do you have a DP to dvi adapter to try the 4th monitor in DP. Sounds like you've tried both dvi and hdmi for the 4th monitor already. So if DP doesn't work there's something between that monitor and the card. Looks on the light boost guide for Benq and Asus 120/144hz displays and it shows how to change the name of the monitor so the drivers think it's a different monitor. Maybe if you change the name of the 4th monitor to the same as the other 3 it could resolve your issue.

Amazingly DP to DVI is maybe the only adapter I do not have, never thought I'd want to make that conversion :)

Finally got the DP to DVI cable and installed it today, again no success. It will not allow the 3 monitors I want to be set as a group, no matter how they are attached. As far as I can tell this is a driver issue, since everything states this is supported and should operate correctly, have to say I'm not impressed with Nvidia.
